Robins are vicious!

Is it just me or are Robins really mean?

People are all "Aww Robins yay!" but every time I see them they're (literally) trying to kill each other.

Just now I saw some weird Robin behavior. A Grackle was trying to get on my suet feeder (which was pretty comical actually, he was trying to balance on this TEENY twig that kept bouncing around) and a Robin kept attacking it. Really attacking too, like flying above him, dive bombing him and clawing at him. He stalked the Grackle around the yard until it left. It caused such a commotion - a ton of birds in the area came by and it seemed like they were also pissed about the Grackle being at the feeder. He was pretty greedy, taking huge chunks. The Robins don't eat from the feeder though, but NO ONE wanted him in the area. The sparrows we all like "Get him! Get him!" like the small bully in the group that lets the big guy take care of the dirty business.

Any insight into the odd behavior?
