All seven Bluebird eggs have hatched!!

Most of them hatched on Friday (day 12) and one hatched either last evening/night or early this morning (day 14). So one is a full day behind the first three that hatched. Hopefully that won't pose a problem at fledging time. Here is a photo I got of all seven this morning...

That's amazing Donna, never had that many before but I do have 7 tres eggs that should be hatching soon. The parents have their work cut out for them....

WOW Donna! You are so lucky! I'll be lucky to live to see that many Bluebirds per nest! But the TRES have layed that many!

Hopefully they all do well! The more the merrier!

Kendra congrats!! I can't wait till next weekend for mine to hatch, I was out of town last yr. when my one nesting fleged...but they were all here when I got home so I'm looking forward to watching them fly this year. This is only my second yr. doing this, use to live in the city now were out in the country and totally enjoying the wildlife.

Karen - Seems your female is a bit ahead of schedule... But I would hope you still have a good chance for hatchlings if she's incubating and staying in the box a lot. I suspect she knows she has to keep those eggs warm, and will try to. Connie - Sorry I know next to nothing about ducks. I would worry too if they're not incubating yet. Our Missy Blue has been incubating 5 blue eggs day and night for the past 10days. She spends most of her time on the nest, with just short breaks during the day. Her Mr.B is feeding her thru the hole like a champ. It's also a good bit warmer here I'm sure, altho we've approached freezing two nights since the last egg was laid. Seven eggs unhatched?

Apparently the incubation phase is over. I see both male & female BB sitting on top of the box together frequently. Alternating hanging onto the openning. The female rarely goes all the way in; I assume it must be very crowded in there! The male appears to be cleaning the nest as I observe particles in his beak as he reaches in and flys away with something white. The eggs that are going to hatch must be done. The female hangs on the front; reaches in; then flys away, I assume, to gather food. I am not sure how many of the second set of seven eyes hatched. I have tried to get a peek but the two birds are very busy and frequently around the box. I have chosen to stay away to not disturb them. It has continued to be a joy to watch them at work. I hope to get an opportunity by the end of the week to observe the number of little birds in the nest. I'll be VERY CAREFUL when I open the box to see. A neighborhood cat has spotted the nest; yesterday I walked out toward the nest and it ran away. I'll keep an eye out for him. I like cats, but, certainly do not want it to harm the BB. I crossed out mammals because the squirrels, chipmunks, skunks, voles, possums and raccoons are comical to watch when they try to climb the same type pole and baffle for the bird feeders.

Great news! How wonderful to have 7. I am lucky to have three. This is just my second try. The first 4 eggs were abandoned and not viable. The 3 should fledge any day. I still have a lot to learn.

That is so awesome. To have seven at once is quite amazing. Do you supplement them with mealies? They may need it to keep all those crops full. What a great picture you got. I can never get a good photo inside the nestbox.
