I tried hatching out quail eggs from an incubator several times mostly unsuccessfully. I did hear that humidity is important. Also I heard you should NOT touch the eggs with your hands or fingers. I had numerous chicks that couldn't make it out of the egg, and also numerous times I tried to help them out of the egg, and they were never healthy. I also had quit a number that hatched, but had deformed legs and couldn't walk right. It was very heartbreaking. I did have 2 occassions where the hen actually did hatch out a couple babies (out of many eggs) and they are the cutest things on earth. I call them bumblebees! Even the other quail in the pen would sit on them to keep them warm. I really enjoyed them. I don't have them anymore and do miss them.

I wallpapered once. Now I paint. Much easier. Yeah, the rain is soooo great. The !#%$%^$% plants think they need 10" a week now and pout when you don't give them supplemental water. And I hate to water, just hate it. And the MOSQUITOES!! I have to spray just to go to the front gate! No to mention I can't even cut stuff back fast enough. I'm parking in the alley until I get a day off to cut back the pride of barbados that is hanging into the street. Can't get close to the curb. We got some rain from Chris, some from a low, looks like we aren't getting any from the next low though. Be careful what you wish for. This time of year most of our rain comes from, drum roll please, tropical storms, depressions, hurricanes. I'd rather water than get a storm. Though Allison flooded Houston & we didn't get a drop of rain. 1979 a tropical storm that had been downgraded to depression dumped 40" of rain on the Alvin area in one day. It rained so much during Frances my 30' avocado tree fell over. And last year we had so much rain from a storm that huge mature oleanders basically floated out of the ground. Not to mention coffins popping up out of the ground. Though you do get desperate and think "a tropical storm would be nice right about now". Tally HO!

Kathy, thanks for your advice I went out this evening and used one of my grandkids plastic spoon since they're tiny and removed the eggs ever so gently, one of the babies thought I was mom and had its mouth open for feeding LOL...but I was able to remove the eggs and I brought them into my house and cracked them and they were not developed just yolk so maybe on her next nesting she'll have better luck with all the eggs.

Not sure if your egg has hatched or not. I used a hot water bottle to hatch abandoned eggs, when they hatched we fed them some wild bird feed. Get a chick waterer (you can get them at feed stores or order them from mcmurray hatchery, Jeffers pet catalog and other places. I wouldn't mist the egg by the way.
