After they fledge...

Are you to remove the nest so that they will build another for the next brood or leave it in there? I thought you had to remove it but one of my nest boxes, that further down the street from me so i don't get to monitor it everyday, the babies fledged & apparently i didn't remove it quickly enough because another nest was built on top of it. so.. i had another box that the babies had fledged and it had been about a week so i cleared the box. well, a day later there was a egg in the box with NO nest. I ended up taking the excess nesting material from the other box and putting it in the other bb box without any nesting. so she laid 5 eggs total and all seems to be well despite my screwing everything up. now my 3rd box is pretty nasty... my babies just fledged last friday.. should i remove the nesting material or leave it alone.. i am hoping my bb will return but i don't want to deter them.
