If what you have is bindweed the worst thing you can do is pull it. Pulling it and breaking the roots actually stimulates the plant to grow more rapidly. You can get rid of it but it will take you a while. The idea is to weaken and exhaust the root so much that the plant dies. First of all, stop pulling it! You need to mow/weed whack/shear it to force it to keep putting out new growth. You want to keep it in the active growth phase and not let it get to the flowering or seed setting life stage. With continuous cutting the plant will/might start to grow extremely flat, it will hug the ground. At this point you'll need to switch to chemical warfare. Start spraying it with an herbicide containing glyphosate, i.e. Roundup and things like that. It need to be an herbicide that kills the root. Unfortunately if the bindweed has invaded a flower bed, you will have collateral damage. Shield the innocent as best you can. Don't try lifting plants to save them from the herbicide. If you get even the tiniest portion of a bindweed root you will spread it. While doing all this never let the plant flower even if you have to hand pick the blooms! Try to keep mowing/shearing it whenever possible. Watch for new plants trying to emerge away from the parent plant too. Keep after this mowing/cutting/herbicide routine until the plant freezes back this winter. Watch for new growth next year. You might have to do this routine for several years because of seed drop from previous ones. Even after the plants are gone you'll need to always be on guard for the stuff, it's a real pain. I am so upset by what I am reading and what I have experienced over the last 12 years .. I am in the process of two major kitchen remodels and have 6 more to complete before I have them all done. Based on what I am reading here and on the internet blogs, I have ended up unwilling to order ANY new appliances. Over the last 12 years the only things I have purchased that have had great customer service are my Jura Capressa coffee makers and my Tempurpedic mattressses. All other purchases have been major headaches or outright nightmares. I am at the point that buying anything at all literally makes me sick at my stomach (and this is not just because I am a guy who does not enjoy shoppping in general). I have noticed that I have become openly hostile to sales people in general. With very few exceptions, I have never met a "sales" person who had even the scant ethics of even a democrat politician. The fact that I am now expected to buy appliances from one of these ingenuine sociopathic sales types is so upsetting that I have my two kitchen remodels on hold. I have great inset all wood custom cabinets with great custom granite counters ... and no appliances. Friends of mine in CA hate their Miele, friends in Henderson Nevada hate their Subzero and Dacor, friends in NY hate their Monogram, friends in Naples Florida hate their AGA and Viking, friends in the Netherlands hate their Miele, friends in Carmel Indiana hate their Traulson and Miele, friends in Arizona hate their Kitchen Aid ... and it goes on and on with nightmare after nightmare of new appliances defective out-of-the-box, incompetent installers, unethical distributors, sales people that grab the big commissions and then can't even return follow up calls, manufacturers that don't honor their warranty committments or try to stong arm the very customers that their business should be treating with dignity and integrity. To add insult to injury, many regional better business bureaus rate these retailers and businesses A+. No wonder consumers have stopped purchasing ... it is not the recession that has stopped people from making major purchases, but, rather, the expectation that after-purchase headaches will take months and months to resolve with stress levels higher than paying for your childrens' college educations. Short of having an attorney produce a contract that the appliance supplier has to sign and be held to legally, does anyone out there have any other magic process. A process that assures the customer won't be setting themselves up for an extremely stressful experience with underpaid customer disservice departments trained by the Insurance claims industry to intimidate and wear down the customer to a point of having to just give up? signed - a potential appliance customer in limbo

We replaced floors, counters, and appliances in our kitchen. We did this over the span of about a year, as we had the money for each step. We just purchased a refrigerator a few weeks ago to complete the project. We also painted and refreshed the kitchen in other minor ways along the way. So it wasn't a totally brand new kitchen like most of the big kitchen renos here. Nevertheless, I found myself being very protective of the kitchen. While I didn't hesitate to start cooking there and, in fact, was excited about it, I was much more careful when cooking my first few meals. Frankly, I'm still more conscious of quickly cleaning up spills and I'm being more careful when I'm cooking---not a bad thing in my mind. But I've noticed that being so deliberate in how I cook everything has increased the time needed for meal preparation somewhat. However, my weird thing is is that I don't really want anyone else touching things in my kitchen. For example, I've had the flu for a few days but since no one else here cooks, I've been putting together simple meals despite being sick. DH bought an unbaked pizza to give me a break from cooking. Normally, he can and will follow the directions and heat up the oven and bake the pizza. But he's never used the new oven and wasn't sure how to even turn it on. Normally, I would have told him how and relaxed while he did it. But this time I insisted I could bake the pizza (although I didn't tell him, it was because I don't really want anyone else touching my SS appliances and getting them all smudged). I inwardly cringe every time my rather messy daughter goes to get a drink out of the refrigerator, even though I tell myself it's ridiculous. I hope this feeling goes away soon, but in the meantime I'm just concentrating on not letting others see me cringe. Another example---when we have friends over I really don't want them to help with the dishes after a meal (even before the kitchen update). I've always said that I prefer to visit with them while they're here and I'll do the dishes later. But now I have to restrain myself from flinging my body between them and the sink, as I'm afraid a stray platter might chip the edge of the granite around the sink. Maybe once I've put the first chip there I'll relax more. I really hope so.

Mike, you mentioned that you could post more than one photo, I've never seen that option or a way to grab several of them. I've only been able to insert one photo at a time, although I've been using the House Photo button (and then dragging my pic into the box) because in the past the Photo button didn't work so I got used to using the alternate way. Just a gripe, I get notifications to my phone, which I did allow thinking it would be for when people comment or like threads, but Houzz has added in their own notifications of sales or design stuff.
