Mine's not blooming either, but it's the first year and I don't think it gets enough sun. It does have a nice crop of gulf fritillary cats on it, so that makes me happy.

Mine is blooming as it usually does, but no "cats" this year. Lots and lots of them last year.

Mine doesn't bloom much. But I have other kinds of passies that do, so I don't worry about it. I have had some caterpillars on the passies, but but very few compared to what it usually has. August already and so little damage!

All the controls put out for webworms last year kinda decimated the butterfly population this year, I think. I have two big cats and about 3 itty bitty ones. I guess I'm lucky it's a slow year, or I might not have a passionvine left!

my Incense is just starting to bloom. Foetida has been blooming a little, but has loads more buds now...and some Frittilary cats. I've seen the butterflies, but there are few cats. In fact, I've only seen small ones. I did see about 10 total Black swallowtail cats this year.

1st: I was walking last night and spotted a fence covered in Incense and there is a big show coming. It was obvious that this area had not been watered. I spoke to the homeowner, she's new to the house. She has essentially neglected it. She appreciates it.

My incense got some fertilizer when I fertilized the roses early in the spring and got some flowering plant Osmocote a couple of months ago. I wonder if it had to gobble up the fertilizer before it started to bloom. I also water mine regularly because if I don't, other plants will die.

2nd my Foetida is growing on a wooden tower. There are red wasps under the edge of the crown. I was wondering if they might be eating the baby cats? Anyone know about this???

Only one of the red passies is in bloom right now. Seems to me that rest bloom heavy in spring and then late summer/early fall kind of resting this time of year. Of course we're in the middle of a drought which could have something to do with it.

I know the Trichogramma wasps are recommended as a natural predator for webworms, so I don't think it's too far-fetched that your red wasps could be preying on some other caterpillar species.

My incense is blooming like crazy. I have 3 big ones now, thanks to reseeding. No caterpillars this year, though, or many butterflies, although I saw my first hummingbird in 2 months around the passionflowers yesterday.

Mine get no fertilizer at all, they are just growing in the plain ole soil. The plan is to get them to grow in all the places that trumpet vine was taking over. I'm halfway successful.

The white one Jolana gave me has been blooming for several months.

So have my evergreens, but I thought she was talking about the Maypop.

Yes, I think she was referring to "maypop", but I just assumed the genus all bloomed at about the same time.

I guess I'll research that a bit.

The wasps definitely love eating all caterpillars. I've seen them "in action" eating gulf frits and they've devoured most of my black swallowtail cats. If I find anymore bst cats I'm bringing them in to raise and right now I'm raising 6 gf cats. It's so disappointing to see them one day and they're gone the next.

How old is your vine. I knwo this is the first year mine has really bloomed and it's about 3 years old. Maybe it's still getting settled?

This is the first year for mine and no blooms. But it only gets morning sun. Should I move it to a sunnier spot? Cheryl

the vine I'm talking about is a passiflora incarnata. It was planted last spring and had blooms after that but not very many.
