is he going to kill himself ? hes bleeding

Mr. Blue is still fighting with the kitchen window. He is feeding Mom in the box and will even jump right in there with her and the babies. He is still spending most of the day at the window and now I see streaks of blood..not a lot..but I am sure it is blood none the les. I don't really care about the constant tap tap or the mess he is making...im just worried about the bird. I could cover this window but then he would just move on to the next one right?

At least he can pesrch within inches of this window so hes not using so much energy or getting enough speed to peck to hard. So do I cover this window and hope he quits and risk him finding a more dangerous window or leave him be. Have they ever killed themselves doing this?

Hi Lisa, I would cover the window and see what he does. Maybe it's the only one that he has noticed. Obviously we know that birds kill themselves bashing into windows at high speed but I don't know if this bloody battle could kill him; certainly it must be sapping his energy. It couldn't hurt to see what happens if you cover it. You can always uncover it if he goes on to something you think is worse.

I my dish towels outside the windowhung

I hung my dishtowels outside the window....he went back to the big windows on the deck, angled te blinds and he quit. He has not taken up another window so far today. Lets cross our fingers.
If nothing else he has had an afternoon/evening of realxation. Lets hope he dosen't find another one of many windows tomorrow.

Country Bumpkin and Jannie, my thoughts entirely. I come from a family with a lot of alcoholics and like smoking, the person has to be ready to help themselves until a "cure" can take place, and I do know once an alcoholic always an alcoholic, but it can be maintained. I have personal knowledge about that. This situation with our neighbor was getting so, most of us kept our doors locked all the time because sometimes, he didn't know where he was and tried to get into the wrong Apt. I think that if he continues with this behavior when he gets back, and the board doesn't evict hem, they may be setting themselves up for trouble.

We have been watching the squirrel and know where he was getting in. We hired someone to take care of the problem but couldn't plug up the hole because he would go in and wouldn't come out while we were on watch. So, we decided to trap him before correcting the problem. DS will have to go up there tomorrow and check the damage. It's too high up for an old man to get to but we know it's there. I am sad to report that the squirrel did not make it. In his frenzy to get free, he injured himself and died. I've been consoling myself with two things. #1 I was quite worried about how we would get the cage down with squirrel in it. I was afraid someone may get bitten through the cage. #2, I know he went out with a very good meal. He had the BEST peanut butter because I didn't have cheapo stuff on hand. We have reset the cage, but I think it was just this one critter. At least I'm hoping so.

That is corking and, to me, it looks stressed from high light and under watering.... First things first: I would, definitely, check the roots and see if it doesn't have invaders like mealie chomping on em. Pulling it out of the soil won't hurt this plant. The current mix looks peat based that's possibly no longer absorbent. Could be wrong on this, but, I'd repot in fresh mix, anyway. A fast draining blend with 50% pumice and or perlite to soil. Reducing the variables of what can be wrong by making sure most of its culture is right will take some of the guess work out. It looks like an echinopsis - possibly white flowers? They are forgiving and with the right culture and time it recovers well.
