This sounds like one of my first posts. We started with the shower b/c the cultured marble was coming apart from the seams. Our friend who does that kind of work came to look and said the shower is connected directly to the studs-no hardiboard. Then he turns around and says you should do your tub too. (I totally agreed, it's not level so it holds water in the corners) I was glad my DH heard this from his mouth and not mine. Then my tile guy came, did measurements, we ordered the tile. He called to give us an update and said "You know your sinks and countertop are really going to look dated if everything else is new. " My husband the whole time has been saying this project is just going to get bigger and bigger. I don't want this to get out of control. but, he agreed that the counters would look bad. So now I'm looking at marble. Then I thought since we're taking it off, the tub butts up to it, I don't use the vanity space to do makeup so that is just wasted area, so lets move the cabinets closer and make the shower bigger (it's 3x3). He agreed but now it's going to mess with the lights because they're in like a shelf over the mirror. And last but not least, I decided if I'm going to do all of this work I might as well scrape the popcorn off of the ceiling. I hate them! I just finished about half hour ago. As I'm finishing I see this paper sticking out so I pull it... It's wallpaper. The former owners painted over it. Not sure what to do about that one. DH is sleeping. Anyway, I think my post heading was Help my husband is going to kill me. He didn't then but wait till he gets the latest news.

Leogirl, you are so right. That is all I want to do, just wrap my arms around him and not let him out of my sight. I have been a paid home respite carer for about 15 years, particularly with people with Alzheimer's, so I know the heartache some of you have had to deal with. I also know that my Glenn is suffering greatly emotionally and that he knows how devastating this is for all of us. He has put up his defences and won't even let his wife talk about his feelings yet. I have left messages on their phones today but so far have not received a reply and it is almost 11pm tonight. His father and I hope to be able to see him tomorrow. Glenn and I are so much alike and we have a deep understanding of each other. As much as I want him to talk to us, I also know that he needs to protect himself and distance himself for now. But as you all know, there is a difference in what we know with our heads and feel with our breaking hearts. My younger son is taking it all very hard. He and his wife are expecting their first child in June and his emotions are so mixed up between happiness and deep,deep sadness. I know the baby will be a blessing to us all but I find it almost impossible to think that far ahead just now. Glenn's wife Heidi and I are very close and she knows that she can call me at any time of the day or night. She has been strong but the truth is just sinking in for her. I wrote Glenn a letter about two years ago, just felt like doing it one day and I know that whatever happens, he has always known how much I love him. He loved the letter and he loves his Mum. Somehow, I feel that things are going to change this coming week and that is why I need to see him tomorrow. Thank you all for your caring words. Elspeth

Personally I don't see or hear any sincerity in this video at all. No emotion. It's as if he memorized what he'd say and says it. His voice is as smooth as bad actor reciting lines in monotone without any cracks which I believe anyone that truly felt remorse would not be able to escape. I don't think there's anything they could do to this young man that would make what he did any less difficult for the family of the man he killed. BUT I don't think he should be treated with leniency because of this video either. It sickens me. I show more emotion when I've accidentally killed a bug than this kid did for killing another human being. With that being said, if he really is taking full responsibility for his actions and not having a trial, then that alone is honorable, but why do the video? Without there being any emotion shown at all I think he's got an ulterior motive. Maybe an early release for good behavior? I do hope he's learned his lesson and will never drink again, let alone drink and drive.

Things haven't changed much from Medieval times, have they? Women in trouble still look to a man as the answer because the man has $ and also promises emotional support. Well, it's still true. Section 8 housing waitlists can be years long, welfare is too little and too sporadic and that nursing job is way off on the horizon. Unless Prince Charming is within view, she is kinda screwed. The only other option is to be really relentless about finding good free counseling that can hook her up with some funding sources which are, sadly, few and far between these days. I would start at the financial aid office of the nursing school and the Career Center. They will try to blow you off but keep coming back until they help you.
