Actually, I thought we had lost a lot more, but we did get an all-day rain a couple of weeks ago, and there are signs of life in some that I had thought were gone. I wasn't able to get out and spray the daylilies with K-Phite this spring. When I first started dabbing pollen, I didn't keep any records of the pollen parents because it seemed like too much effort. I finally came to my senses half-way through the flowering period and started tagging the crosses. Due to so much wind and having to water, water, water, the tags were in pretty much of a mess when harvest time arrived. Jean, like you, once I get down on my garden cart I can't get back up again. Thanks to the after-effects of Levaquin, I can just barely get into my SUV now. So, if anything gets done in the daylily bed, I have to get help. I can manage to pull up a weed here and there. They live in Comitan de las Flores near the Guadalajara border, and they tell me it is neither hot nor cold there - like a year-round spring. The daylilies are having a long blooming season there. They were still living here when we moved from the country last year, so I gave them a lot of the daylilies I couldn't bring with me. They were realy fascinated with the multiple-colored ones, stating that there were only flowers of just one color growing down where they were from. What I did not know was that the entire postal system in Mexico shuts down for a week during their national holiday on Sept. 16, so the seeds had to sit at their post office until it reopened the following week. I haven't heard from them yet if they made it O.K. Nancy

We love this range.... & would buy it again! As with every new appliance, there are new things to become familiar with.... the induction cooktop is very straight-forward (and we had used an induction plate prior to buying this range, so induction wasn't a new concept to us), but the oven seems to maintain more humidity than my old one, but I have learned to use convection more since I last posted... so for things that i want a drier or crisper result, I use the convection option, or open the door a bit to let the extra moisture/steam out. I haven't found it takes noticeably longer to preheat than my old self-cleaning oven, but I see others have complained of this. The oven interior is slightly smaller than my old one, but I've gotten used to that, too, now. I recently used the bread-proof setting which worked like a charm. If I had a wish list, I would put a small hob at the front, since I use the small hobs a lot, and if you are stirring or tending the pot, it is nice not to have to reach back quite so far for an extended period of time. There weren't many choices available in my region when I bought this range. It was either this one or a GE cafe induction range. I'm sure there are more to choose from now, but I'm better with fewer choices, otherwise I'd never be able to make up my mind! Wait for the big sales if you can... stores sells these for $1000 - $1500 off the regular price, & I've seen these big appliance sales more than once each year.

Thanks folks - Yes, we do have CO detectors, but then again, the same contractor who installed that flue also installed the CO detectors, so my confidence level isn't that high. I pushed the test button last night and it seemed to be working properly, but as far as I know, there's no way to test a detector to see if it's working to detect CO. It appears that only after several hours of being fixed, the wettest boards near the flue were beginning to dry considerably. This is good news. What's unfortunate is that it's -1 today, so I doubt much drying will take place over the next few days. We have some frost on the decking this morning. I was told that I shouldn't be too concerned about mold because by the time the attic warms up enough to promote aggressive mold growth, most of the moisture will be gone. That being said, I know it only takes a little bit of mold to be a problem. My biggest concern now is that the water seeped down our walls and we're not seeing any stains due to the sheetrock, paint, etc. Is there a way for them to easily replace the insulation in those walls and/or inspect them from the attic via flashlight ? lazygardens - yes, that's exactly what our doctor told us yesterday, too, but the fact that this problem could have explained everything we have been feeling makes me livid. I am not "sue happy" by any means, but still... Thanks for the thoughts and comments...I really appreciate them. Does anyone have any thoughts on my concern of the moisture in the walls? That's really the only major concern I have right now. I don't want to develop a mold problem in a year or two. Is there a way to cheaply test/monitor for mold (i.e. in 6 months-12 months or so?) Pal, please do two things: 1) Watch a Bill Engvall video (if you havent already seen the skit that # 2 is referencing) 2) Print out 16 signs and be ready to hand them to these thoughtless women, while saying 'thank you, here's your sign' Seriously - it's abuse, and you dont have to stand for it. Lot's of interactions of a similar nature between women are not of a truly friendly nature, it's glossed over, thinly veiled hostility. Worse, the fact that many of them do this means that it's become part of the cultural norm in the office, which means it is likely to continue until you call a halt to it. Yes, they may respond with shock, etc, but you';ve served as the recipient of their displaced, likely unacknowledged, anger, for quite long enough. Regarding gender, if you were a woman and being treated like this by a man, it wouldn't be considered brotherly kidding on his part, it would be consider mental abuse; in a workplace, it meets the legal criteria for sexual harrassment. I'm not saying they're evil, but they are bullying you, and it should stop. I agree wholeheartedly with Stinky - ask them point blank if they would like you to say the same thing to them., and then walk away. If they go at it again after that (unlikely since it will seriously humiliate them internally to be confronted) respond once in kind, first citing it as an example. Expect them to be angry, to snub you for a while, to talk around the water cooler and in the kitchen about 'what a bad night you must have had' and 'jeez- you must have had a bad day', but also expect it to stop - the snubbing and attempting to laugh it off is a face saving measure but not an indication that they havent taken the warning - just maintain your dignity and professional demeanor, and it will likely end in the workplace being a much less toxic environment. Most of all, realize that it's not really you that is the true focus of their anger and mean behavior - you are the currently convenient, safe scapegoat on whom they are expressing their anger by these back-biting remarks. That's not a role you should accept any longer - your role is to ensure they treat you with the same respect and professionalism you show them. If it means they need to deal with their displaced anger another way, well, that's part of being an adult and living in society. Don't accept their abuse a single day more - if you begin calmly confronting the behavior, it will likely be extinguished in a very short time. Take heart, too, in that there is absolutely nothing you did to encourage this, nothing you did that deserves this, and nothing about this you should accept as normal behavior that you have to endure. And if you want one more laughing way to view taking on a bully, watch A Christmas Story again, paying attention to what happens to the bully when the hero's had enough of being bullied. Then print yourself a couple of signs to hand out at work. ;-) Please let us know that this scenario is getting better for you - no one should have to work or live in this type of environment. - Orchid
