Babies cling to front of nestbox

Today was day 17 and there had been a lot of "peekage" happening, so I rushed home to check on things. When I glanced out the window, there was "something"?? on the lower portion of the front of the box. By the time I grabbed the binocs and reached the door, it was gone. I was somewhat alarmed because I knew it wasn't Mom or Dad, but didn't know what it was. I was worried that something was trying to get the babies. I waited and watched, and then again, there was something on the front of the box. This time though, I could tell it was a baby blue! Now, I've only seen 5 babies fledge before, but all 5 left the box the same way....out and away. This one was clinging to the outside front. I took my eyes off the box briefly to speak to a neighbor who came over to watch the action, so I missed how this little guy/gal ended up on the front of the box. It was as if he/she changed his/her mind @ the last second! Is this common? Has anyone seen a baby leave the nest, only to fly back? Or maybe instead of flying "out and away", they sort of "climbed, stepped, and clung"?? Just curious as to what others have seen.

Anyway, here are a few pics from yesterday and today.

It's amazing to me how much I love watching these bluebirds........and sharing my bluebird stories with people on this forum, and looking at other people's pictures of bluebirds, and reading stories of other people's bluebirds.......well, you get the idea. (sorry for the rambling.)
