A little while later # 1 leans towards # 3 and says "well, sugah, what has YOUR husband done for you lately?" # 3 takes a sip of her mint julep and says "well, he sent me to that fancy charm school so I could learn to say aint that nice instead of f### you". So to the other forums that have no southern manners I say "ain't that nice"! An oldie but one of my faves. AND one of the few jokes I actually remember. Tally HO!

Hi everyone! I see that I posted to this thread a year ago, and I'm a veteran of all the Mojo threads, too. I'm very glad to see that Gibby, AWM, and others have had continued success! Last year, I started daily walks in my neighborhood and lost about 12 pounds between March and June. Then I was hospitalized for a foot infection, and by the time my foot had recovered, it was too hot for walking. I should have resumed in the fall, but I didn't, and, sadly, I've backslid on my dieting, too. So it's back to Square One for me! :-( I was SO enthusiastic last year, so completely committed to the new eating pattern and exercising lifestyle. What happened? I feel so discouraged now. Maybe one factor is that I drifted away from Kitchens and moved over to the Cooking Forum. I try to avoid the baked goods, but there are so many tempting recipes posted there... but I don't blame the CF, I blame myself. Besides, the CF is not responsible for my occasional binges. I know the cure for them is not to have "just a taste" of something sweet in the first place. There were other factors, too: I started working again (freelance), and I have other interests that take up most of my free time. I don't have space for exercise equipment at home and can't afford a gym membership right now. Also, my back injury limits the kinds of exercise I can do. Walking is great for me, as long as the terrain is level, but, as clg said, it's too cold for walking now. However, I'm determined to start again when the weather gets warmer. Does anyone have ideas on how to reclaim my Mojo? Did the Mojo threads really help most of you, or would/could you have done it on your own, without encouragement from the group? Sue

I love concrete countertops, but I understand they're a lot of work. If you're just going over the current counters with feather finish, I won't argue with you. If you're replacing the counters, I would recommend a concrete-look solid surface. There are some really gorgeous ones that look like concrete but function much better in a kitchen. An undermount sink is a good idea, or you could have one formed into your countertop so there's no seam. Again, if you're going with a concrete-looking solid surface, this will provide a very clean, modern look with your white cabinets. I recommend getting your cabinets painted professionally if you can. Doing it yourself is a major pain. Trust me. Backsplashes are so personal, you could really do anything you like. I recommend looking up "white kitchen" and seeing what backsplashes there are. Make sure you're choosing all your colors IN YOUR KITCHEN instead of at the store. The colors will look different. If you're replacing your cook top, you can purchase one with an in-counter venting system to keep the line of sight open into the other room. Some states don't require venting if the stove isn't against a wall. Here's some inspiration to get you started: (I know this is a bathroom, but it's a good example of the counters I meant:)

Wall ovens aren't always simple replacements, gotta echo everyone else here. The way these are phrased are somewhat misleading - with "30 inch wall ovens" being a standard width among most major manufacturers, it leads people to think they're all the same size, but this is not the case. Biggest difference is in height, which can be all over the place depending on what you're looking at. Tjmwine is right, "guaranteed fit" just means manufacturers will cover cabinet mods up to a limit through a mail-in rebate. Some units come with fit "kits", but it's basically just a panel to cover the top or bottom of any gap, and it still doesn't necessarily mean it will be a fit for your space. As far as double ovens go, most nowadays are 50 amp, so you definitely need that electrical in place. Most appliance installers are not certified trades (electrician's, plumbers, carpenters, HVAC). Install means just that, putting a new appliance in and connecting it. It doesn't mean they will modify your home or fixtures in any way, shape or form. There's a lot of liability that comes with that, and I don't know of any company that includes this as part of a standard installation. Depending on where you're located, they may not even be able to connect the oven electrical - I'm in Houston, and here city code requires a certified electrician to do so. Most installers here, while capable, will not do the wiring if there is any kind of permit pulled or inspection involved. It does seem unusual that they wouldn't uninstall the old unit, unless there's a similar code in place. The line about voiding your warranty is likely BS though - the warranty is offered by the manufacturer, unless you've bought an additional third party warranty that under contract requires install is done by a specific party. Some manufacturers will incentivize using particular installers by extending the warranty, but so far as I know, they're not legally able to void it through a self install or using an unauthorized installer. They'll throw you to the wolves if that unauthorized installer breaks or damages the unit, but they can't void it if it gets installed to spec.
