My Mom didnt figure it out yet either, It's getting down to 29 tonight and she has 5 eggs, I took it off as I am sure she will want to be on the nest tonight. We will try again tomorrow.I have only seen Wrens 1 out of the going on 7 years and thats when they were cutting dow quite a few trees to sell the lumber the next property over. I know they are here but left un disturbed they stay in the deeper woods. (HOPEFULY) I will get Mom used to the guard tomorrow with no problems between now and then.

I know its going to get down in the 30's this evening so I put up the guard, she had 4 eggs and this evening she did go inside and was in there when it got dark so I'm glad I removed the guard because its cool tonight. She was funny though she would get on top of the spooker and pull at the mylar strings hanging down like it was there fault the wren guard was there.

I couldn't get my female to accept the wren guard on Sat. She's got 5 eggs and the temps dropped overnight so I didn't try again.

One good thing...the male bluebird is 'on the job.' I've seen him chase the freaking wrens all over the place. And I took the extra boxes out of commission (in years past, I had extra boxes for them but THAT didn't help either).

I am monitoring the inside of the box with the videocam. Mama is not gone very long from the nest.

I have to trust that between the two of them and me, we'll be OK.

I think I've learned my lesson. That is, put the wren guard up when she lays the first egg.

I put up a "training" guard today, better than nothing and should be simple enough to figure out, prolly even for a Wren, 4" wide and 4" out no sides. I'm sure They will get the hang of it. This is last years male, not sure why this is a problem, but then he is one of those that fights himself in the window....maybe not the brightest Bird I have ever had, but I must say he does keep a very watchfull eye on Moma when she is at the box.

My blues still haven't accepted the guard yet I'm going to try again today.
