I'm further down the coast from you, but still watching Gustav. I was in Houston when Alicia hit in '83. It was scary, . . .at least for me. Hang in there and hope that everything goes OK for you. Your tomatoes, . . .well either they make it or they don't, but you stay safe. You can always buy more tomatoes.

Good luck with the storm. Not much you do to protect the tomatoes unless you maybe put a cage around them and try to stake down a tarp over the cage. Depends on how much wind you get whether that will help or not.

I was in Houston when Alicia hit too. I was 7 or 8 years old. I don't remember all the details but I remember the most is that my dad made me rake all the dead leaves... and there sure was a lot of them!

To this day, I still don't know why my mother even bothered to take us to school the next day when it was flooded everywhere. Talk about dedicated mother!

I live in DFW area now and it looks like that Gus may stall on us and rain a ton and cause a major flooding????

I'm usually pretty calm about things, but this storm is freaking me out a little bit. I just looked at the radar and it looks BAD.
