Yellow-rumped Warbler?

I agree with Bob. Sure looks like a Yellow-rumped warbler to me.

Female Yellow Rumped Warbler. 100% positive. They are really neat little guys. I have them here in winter if the winter is mild. This one has not been though. Soon she will be getting brighter colors as the migration approaches. Not as bright as the males get but she will get more colorful than she is now. Good picture...Mike

Thank you! That was my guess after looking at photos in my Natl. Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Birds, this afternoon. From reading the description in the guide, I think this is a breeding male because in another photo I took, I could see some blue in the wings. It's a lifer for me. Thanks again.

Mike-I guess I was posting as you did. Maybe this one in the photo (thanks for the compliment)is a female and I also have a male which I photographed. I didn't post the one that I saw blue on because it was through my kitchen window and it didn't turn out real clear. I didn't realize the female would have so much yellow apparent.

I'll join in with the yellow-rumped warbler crowd confirming this. I was just thinking about these lovely birds this morning, wondering when I'll start seeing them. I'm in Northern California and haven't seen any yet and normally we see them in winter months.

Here's the picture through the window. If you look closely, you can see the blue, I hope.

The first bird is a Butter-Butt for sure. Could the second be a Parula? Just a guess.....

The second bird is a male Yellow Rumped Warbler 100% sure. I love all of our warblers so very much. Here where I live I have many species that nest in the woods,fencerows,etc behind me. The Yellow is spectacular and the Prothonotary..well Wow!!!! is all you say when you see one. No other country on Earth is as blessed with so many cool birds as we are here in the United States and the warblers of North American are a very special part of that group indeed. I've never seen a Yellow-Rumped with blue-grey on it like that. Live and learn I guess...

They look like Myrtle Warblers to me, but we have mostly Audubon Warblers in S California.

I just saw this bird today, and thought it might be a yellow- rumped Warbler. It's the first time I've seen one. The only picture I was able to take...

Going by the pictures in my Sibley's they are Yellow-rumped Warblers Myrtle Population, which have white throats.The others have yellow throats. For the first time I have Yellow-rumped Warblers in my suburban garden. Here's a picture of one I was able to 'shoot'. It may be a first year male because I think I can see yellow starting on top of the head or it could be a female. I have seen another with a yellow spot on top but haven't been able to get a picture yet.
