Cindy: When your SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS blooms, do post a pic. I've got that one too from Curt but it is not a star performer here yet. Debra: This many blooms this late has to be due to the amount of rain we got over the past month. I don't recall this much showing at this late date. Mantis: yes, earlier pics of GEECHEE were better but just shows how much a late opening with cool temps can do to a daylily. Celeste: I've admired your pics of COUSIN SUZANNE. The race is definitely on here too! Linda and Kay: I'm so thankful to get these blooms this late in the season. I'm always on the scape hunt because I just never know what will show itself. KIOWA SUNSET has always been a favorite of mine. It is registered as a EE but here, it doesn't start blooming till early July and the scapes are taller than 23" as registered. Well, the weather turned and we are already up at 60 degrees F here this morning. Rain, rain, rain so I guess that is why our temps moderated. Julia

Here are some pics from last weekend. This is in Cumberland County near Delaware Bay (zone 7-a). Palms & Cycas revoluta which survived last winter under mulch. Xerophyte Berm John taking a breather from giving tours of his gardens.

I agree it's a good pic, and I've never seen a grid like that in a hummingbird feeder. Claire

I'm in central Florida and I just saw my first one of the season last Sat. Don't know if its the same one but there has been one here every morning about 7:30 each day since and I just took my first pictures a couple minutes ago. This one is an adult male Ruby. Last winter I had several Rubys, a juvie female Rufous and a Black chinned. Unusal for this area to have 3 types. All stayed from Jan. till April. Had a bander come twice and they banded 2 of the Rubys and the Rufous. Am in hopes the Rufous will return. I do believe that one of the Rubys had been here the year before as he claimed this one feeder as his and always sat on the same branch of the Crape Myrtle tree as the one the year before did.
