Is it possible they will never ripen?

Hi,

I have perhaps made out better than some New England gardeners, mostly due to gambling on planting in early/mid May (our nicest month so far!), so I have a moderate amount of green fruit - probably on average maybe 4 per (noncherry) plant - some have 1, some have 8, etc. But I ain't complaining!

OK, maybe I am... I'm getting concerned that maybe this fruit will never change color from green to anything else, because it just isn't warm enough. Is it true that the fruit need not sunlight but heat to ripen? Is it going to be September and I will have all this green fruit?

(And no, I am not growing any Green When Ripes.)

The only ones who like to eat the green ones around here are the chipmunks, who are having the best year EVER.
