Sounds like white flies.

Information states:

Whiteflies damage citrus by removing sap from leaves during feeding and by secreting large amounts of honeydew upon which black sooty mold grows.

Try using an organic insecticidal soap and then give it blasts of water especially on the undersides. If you do this repeatedly, you should get rid of the flies and then the honeydew.

You can also buy or make a "sign" that is yellow and sticky. The white flies will land on this instead of your plants. Kind of satisfying if you grow to hate them.

They also cannot survive a blast of a rubbing alcohol/water mixture. Boy, do I hate these guys. Be very careful if you bring any of the plants inside for the winter. Make sure you have killed off all the eggs or they will infest everything in your house.

Thanks for the tips.. I used a little soap mixed with water and rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle. It seemed to wipe the fly's out

Well it looks like I may have made my mixture to strong or something... Maybe using the dish soap? Would that be harmful to plants? But it looks like the new growth on my Jasmine and my Avacado tree are burning!! I'll try a lighter mix next time. I'll have to do it soon because the little fly's are back... just not in a massive number like last time. Someone mentioned the insecticde soap, I think I will try to find this at Home Depot.

I use insecticidal soap. If you are going to use "dish washing soap", be sure to use a mild one, something like Ivory. Don't use Dawn! It's too strong.

What was the amount of each insecticidal soap, rubbing alcohol and water that got rid of the white flys ?
