Our club had a sale in a nursery and the lady brought a lot of leaves for sale. After the end of the sale - she said - whatever is not sold - for grabs. So I ended with 10 baggies of mins and semis. The first set of mouse leaves showed up in about 10 days. My eyes popped - and I called her. She dipped them in superthrive before packing them in baggies. I do not think we need to add Superthrive to water the adult plants - the difference is probably not worth the bother. But if you have leaves or cuttings - spraying them with it makes sense. But spraying makes sense anyway. I. - can live with it or without it.

I don't know if Super Thrive actually works or not, but I figure it can't hurt so I go ahead and and some in (1/4 tsp per gal) every time I fertilize, and I also use it by itself whenever I transplant something. Personally I feel like it does make a noticeable difference. Something to keep in mind is that a bottle does have a limited shelf life, I think it's about a year. Also, heat will break down the active ingredients. For this reason I keep my bottle of Super Thrive under the sink in my laundry room, rather than out in the garage or whatever. I also buy it from Lowes, where it's kept indoors in the air conditioning, unlike Home Depot where they keep it outside exposed to the Texas summer heat. I have a theory (totally without any science/facts to back it up), that the reason it seems to work for some people but not for others is that some of the bottles are either expired or have been exposed to a lot of heat in shipping, storage, or whatever.

I cant wait to hear either! I did watch a youtube video of a guy doimg the experiment on his food crop. One with reg fertilizer one with st and one without. And the two fertilizers turned out the same. But, I can always hope it turns out to be a super stimulant to leaves right?! Lol

Coming from a professional horticulturist, I agree almost entirely with irina :-) Nothing supersedes proper culture and care. Proper heat and light, proper potting soil, proper watering and proper fertilization. Amendments for any kind of houseplants are almost always unnecessary. And in some cases, can be counterproductive. Mycorrhizae is completely ineffective in an indoor container growing situation with a soil-less potting mix. Won't hurt but doesn't help. Save your money :-) Superthrive (aka 'Superjive') is just heavily promoted snake oil. All it contains are some rooting hormones and B1. And you dilute it down to where it is almost nothing but pure water anyway!! B1 is not a necessary plant additive (plants make their own) and a rooting hormone is only necessary if you are rooting. Save your money :-) Kelp or any other organically derived fertilizer is highly inefficient in an indoor container situation for the same reason myco is - no active OM so none or insufficient populations of soil microorganisms to convert it into a plant usable form. Same with humic acid........can be beneficial in an outdoor garden setting but pretty much useless indoors. Save your money :-) And despite all manner of scientific literature to the contrary, the belief that adding Epsom salts somehow makes plants grow better/stronger/faster is a myth that resists being broken. Epsom salts - magnesium sulfate - is only of benefit if you have a magnesium deficiency. Period. And for any containerized indoor plant, that is easily addressed with a full range fertilizer. Save your money. Or save your Epsom salts for the bathtub soak to relieve the sore muscles you got while gardening outside :-))
