Do You Know This Vine?

This has been growing like a weed on my back fence this year! It usually puts out lots more little yellow flowers, but I think because of the rain we've had the flower production is down. The little yellow flowers are tiny, about the size of a penny.

It's butterfly vine. The seeds will look like lime green butterflies.

It can be very invasive over time. Keep the clippers handy. Or the weedeater.

I find the vine 40' from where it is planted. It grows that long, not new plants from seed. The seed are usually sterile, a blessing.

This is one of my favorite vines, but it does require a chaperone.

It could have been both of the ones above I will never know as they tore the place down but I do know it wasn't a ordinary vine like MG or something like that just big white trumpet shaped flowers and fragrant. Susan, In my experience, all Syngoniums eventually vine and, in vining, they also change color, mostly to green. There is one (S. williamsii) which has silvery variegation and I believe that this one retains that even after vining. If you plant these so they can go up a totem, they will eventually produce larger compound leaves. I thought these were called Redwing, but I cannot find a picture. The seeds are actually the pink part of the plant. I love mine, and have grown it from seeds from one at a previous home.
It will bloom all summer.
It may be related to the butterfly vie, but it appears to be a different plant.

Heteropterys glabra (Red Wing)
I found it. This was driving me nuts, so I went back to an e-mail from July 2004 and found it.

I'm glad y'all cleared that up. I was thinking the pink was a mis-thingy where the colors are distorted in pictures. My B'fly vine doesn't have any pink on it.

I ran across this posting while trying to find a source for this plant (Heteropterys glabra). I've been looking for one for several years, since seeing a huge planting at Antique Rose Emporium in Brenham. Alas, they didn't have any for sale.

I'd be happy to pay postage or shipping for seeds, or preferably, a cutting.

Any help you guys could give would be appreciated.
