Hi All! I think I may have mentioned this before on this Forum. But if not here goes. How to keep stained hands clean? Do your best not to get them stained from the beginning. How? Rubber Latex Gloves. BJ's sells them by the box at a nominal cost and to cut down on that cost, you can use them over and over again even when they get holes. When the holes get to big or the cuff might rip when pulling them on because of stress it's time to discard. What I do before taking them off is spray them with a garden hose or wash off the dirt just the same as washing your hands in a bucket of rain water. Then I quick dry them with a dry cloth or rag. But the most important thing is having a large container like a 34 or 39 oz coffee can with a plastic lid. Put a fair amount of inexpensive talcum powder or corn starch in the can. Then before I take off the gloves, I rub the powder on the outside. Then I slip the gloves off and put them in the can. Then I put on the lid and shake vigorously to get the powder on the damp or wet inside of the gloves making them dry. Some of the powder will reach into the inside also. You can easily put several pairs in the can as there all the same size and there's no left or right. So if a hole gets in the stronger left or right hand side of the wearer you can put that glove with the hole on the opposite hand. When I take the gloves out of the can obviously the outside has the most powder. I turn the gloves outside inward and then blow a little air into the cuff and then squeeze to pop the fingers out. Now the powdered side is inside and this helps to generally make the gloves slid on quite easily. Hope this info helps someone. Jim

About the cold hands, the reason is most likely that blood flow shunts to the large working muscles, ie your quadraceps and other leg muscles. It's nothing to worry about. I had a problem with gaining weight while on a diet too. Turns out the diet plan was more calories than what I had been eating previously. Strange, I know. I went back to the way I used to eat and started losing weight again. Another possibilty is that if you are eating a lot of prepared foods, you are probably also eating a ton of salt, which will cause fluid retention. Exercise won't cause fluid retention, just the opposite- you lose salt and water when you sweat. Hope this helps. And keep up the good work!

Graywings--yes, the $45 one is exactly the one I have. it's not 'vintage'--I bought it new about 20 years ago--at an outlet center. For FIVE $$$$. No, not afraid of it leaking. It seals well. I did have the gasket replaced on it a few years ago, to be on the safe side, but as I said, I've been using it for decades with no problem. I usually use mine when I'm sitting doing something like reading, watching TV. Don't take it to bed with me. We've got apillow top mattress--those things are like furnaces, once I'm in bed, I'm generally too warm no matter what the temp.

I got a laugh out of the title curiosity. I did shake a hand recently that could have been described as this! Rose - I love Mario and Luigi too! Annie - I've heard of that before. I hope it's not. After analyzing my hands today, my fingers normally are a little red/pink toward the nails and the cold one did appear a tad more so, and I may have detected a slight blue undertone at one point. Nothing goes numb or hurts. I've never considered going to the Dr. for it since it only seemed to happen in the winter when I was at the computer. I seem to forget about this in warmer months. As I crawled into our bed of cold, cotton sheets last night I was wondering if I should try flannel or something heated. Once I get toasty I'm good and I prefer to sleep in a cold room, but getting in and out of bed...brr. My normally warm blooded DH said he's been chilly at night lately. The heated mattress pad could work since the temp is adjustable on both sides. Yaya - That's how my current set up is. I do shake out my hand at times or rub the back of it. I'll try for a longer period of time. Once the hand gets cold it seems to pretty much stay like that. Graywings - I must be mouse scroller and clicker happy. If you've never experienced it before you might be thinking it really doesn't sound like a big deal, but it's incredibly annoying. On a scale of 1-10 annoying I'm going with a 7.5-8 lately. My hand hasn't been completely warm most of the day. Once it gets cold it seems to pretty much stay that way if I'm busy doing other things and can't baby/bundle it.
