And I didn't even plant these!

They volunteered from seed from where I compost kitchen scraps in place. I harvested them yesterday to thwart any critters, 'coons, possums, or rats, that had an eye out for them. The stem pulled away very easily from the fruit.

I cut the one with the most orange color showing through the webbing and it is medium sweet. The flesh is crisper than most cantaloup I buy. I wonder if the other two sit on the counter for a few days and some of the moisture evaporates out if they will be a little softer and sweeter. No telling how old the ones we buy in stores are.

But I'm surprised they are as good as they are in the black clay soil here. They will definitely be eaten :-)
