I moved in last September and the builder landscaper put in varigated liriope and mondo grass that you have. I watered it once a week (when it was newly planted) for 10 minutes during that hot, dry fall we had last year. I don't water it at all any more, haven't turned on my sprinklers since last winter actually. With all this rain we've been getting 15 minutes twice a week is over kill. I also don't maintain them at all. The mondo especially has shot up dozens of healthy little baby plants all over the place. I really need to transplant those things. The liriope has flowers on it now, I didn't even know they flowered. You can trim back the brown leaves if you want, it's a very durable plant. Has to be if it wants to survive in my garden...

I have not had good luck with flowering celosia as bedding plants. I was told that I should have pinched off the flower when I planted them. I didn't, they didn't last, turned brown and nasty and if memory serves me were goners pretty fast. I hope this isn't your experience. Were they potbound when you planted them? If not, You'll probably do better than I did.

They were from a nusery as far as I know.

if a plant is blooming it has the message that it's done its job. It is preparing to got to seed. If a plant is blooming as they usually are from a nursery, and the roots are bound up in the pot, it is doubly confused.

You might try pinching the flowers out of the middle of the plants of some and see if it stimulates the plants to make more flowers. Let me know how they turn out.

Also, I keep getting these mushrooms every morning in the gardens.... They come in the morning, and are usually gone by the evening... What are they?

Use mulch in your flower bed to get rid of the grass. We use cypress mulch and it is usually good for the whole season, then we rake the fall leaves into the beds to winter over and till under in the spring. Only drawback is you can't seed directly in the ground. Our bed is slowly becoming perrennial so I use other beds for direct sowing. For your mushrooms I would think that you have good soil with lots of organic matter so I wouldn't worry unless kids or pets try to eat them. I can't tell you about celosia because I never had luck with it. I think it would do better if planted from seed. The persian shield will freeze here in Austin but it sure is pretty.
