'T&S' might be my very best hydrangea. I grow 34 hydrangeas so that statement has some merit. The thing is an absolute powerhouse in terms of bloom production (late May until the first frost). It is, in essence, the Knock Out rose of hydrangeas (and I say this from experience of growing the majority of the "reblooming" hydrangea cultivars). Performs admirably in full sun, is definitely quite disease resistant, and changes COLORS easily! I will be adding several more to my gardens this season--and looking forward to it!

Well here is my experience with the two. Blushing Bride I have two of in very different locations. Both have never died to the ground, even in their first winter. The first one is in almost complete shade and is in it's 4th season. Gets a little evening dappled sun for a couple of hours. Flowers on this one are always 50/50 if they are floppy or not. I just cut the floppy ones off and bring them inside. Seems to help promote more upright ones the remaining part of the year. My second one is in it's 3rd season. It receives alot of sun(6-8 hrs)in the middle of the day but it is mostly dappled. Only a short period of direct. It does very well and rarely even shows signs of wilt. Along with it's flowers are never floppy! The Blushing Bride is always my first hydrangea to bloom in my yard. This hydrangea gets an A+ in my book. I got two Twist n Shouts last year. They were very small starts and didn't do much last year. This year we had a mild winter and they died to the ground. Although all my Macrophylla hydrangeas except for the BB have died to the ground in their first winter. They came flying out of the ground this year and have over tripled in size. They both have each put off a few flowers. They were close behind my PW Starlights for my third hydrangea blooming in the yard this year. So they seem to bloom on new growth just fine and are very vigorous growers in my book. Seems like it will be a great one also. The red stems and fall color are a nice bonus also! One is planted in early morning sun and the other is in mostly shade with less than an hour of direct evening sun.

No one offends me with what they have to offer. But of the two posts for trading I just made, the first person to respond to each post asked if I'd consider sending my plants for postage which is, indeed, asking me to give my plants away. By writing 'Please let me know what you have in trade, or have an up-to-date list' I thought it was clear that I want to TRADE only. Sorry if expecting something in return offends anyone.

You are zone 7 and based on my experience please examine your "south facing" site carefully. I have two T & S (zone 6a) and three other macs in south-south west location. Regardless of how much they are watered they wilt in the afternoon. Some people are able to ignore this, but I think it is really unattractive. It is also a pia to water them as often as necessary in full sun. I'll be moving all my macs to part shade, even at the risk of reducing flowering, I know it is the strong afternoon sun that's the culprit. I did not know much about hydrangeas when I planted them. My T & S have been in the ground about 3 years. We had a terrible winter. I'm embarrassed that I can't remember as far back as April as to whether they were killed to the ground or not. However, even if the old (last years or older) stems are killed, the new growth will have flowers. It may just be later blooming. In a matter of weeks T & S puts on feet of growth. Mine are very vigorous. And they keep pushing out new flowers, unlike -it seems to me- some other macrophyllas that have one big substantial bloom. To state the very obvious, if the roots are killed, it is dead and won't do anything in the spring. But is very root hardy, too.
