What IS making it in your yard with little water?

I'm most impressed by this amaranth which reseeded itself from plants that were in the pot last year. The seed originally came from Jolana. I have the name somewhere. It takes very little water. When I see it wilting, which is only about every three or four days, I give it a squirt of water.

The coral vine has not gotten to the top of the tree as usual, but I never see it wilt, nor has it received but a smidge of water.

Blue plumbago has long impressed me with it's ability to bloom in difficult conditions with very little water.

I don't know how Esperanza does it. It's about a third of its usual height, but is blooming. I never see it wilt, but give it a little water from the hose every week or two.

As you can see from the photo directly above my next door neighbor is letter the grass in his back yard die. My plants along the fence line used to depend on the water they received when he watered the grass, now it is no more :-(

What's making it with low water usage in your yard?
