Yep, I would say it's a Tx spiny lizard. We have tons of them at our house. I love having them around, they eat bug's :)
We also have Reticulated Gecko and anoles.

We have these too! I'm sure they are around all the time, but it's such a treat to actually see one...they blend in so beautifully!

This is a spiny lizard something like yours, but not exactly :-)

The anole lizard is downright soft and cuddly compared to the other ones.

This big guy 'hangs out' by my front door. He is beneficial in a couple of ways; scares the heck out of magazine salesman and keeps the paper wasps under control.

Here's what's left of the nest after he slurped the larva out ;-)

This one is the scariest of all. He is huge and very colorful, but few see him because he hunts way up in the trees at night. I heard the branches shaking and was lucky enough to snap this picture of him with the telephoto lens. It's kinda' like snipe hunting if you remember going on those hunts way back when. (grin)

I love all my lizards. I hope y'all had some fun with them too.

Gee roselee, the big guy that hangs out by your front door looks like he could use a few laps around the track!

I have NEVER seen any of these lizards except the plain ole sweet green/brown lizards..smooth skinned...
How come ya'll have all the fun and have actually seen all these kinds of lizards before...I am jealous!
Yep..Im thinking that one that eats the nests, he looks very mean..and look at all them teeth!!!

I have rare poison dart frogs too! I got them in of the gift shop at the San Antonio zoo. In other words I'm teasing about the last three lizards!

Knowing I'm fascinated by reptiles, as with all of nature, my daughter gave me the the big guy that 'hangs' by the front door (paper wasps had the audacity to build a nest hanging from his tongue. The next year wasps built a nest hanging from that nest!) And the huge colorful one in the branches never moves from his spot in the bonsai tree. (Thank goodness :-)

I saw another one today. It was definately a different one, smaller.

I love my spiny lizards! Just today I watched one out on the patio. He'd scamper a foot, and stop. Look at me and do a few push ups--then scamper another foot, stop. Look at me and do a few push ups. It was funny!

Why do they do those push ups? It looks like they're breathing hard when they do them too.

Gila monster or a baby Komodo Dragon -- the largest lizard in the world. BTW, they have Komodo Dragons at the San Antonio Zoo. I usually go to the zoo to check out the plants,it rivals the Botanical Center, but some of the animals are pretty interesting too.
