I love Black Foot Daisy; the only problem with it is that is a short lived perennial - it lives for only approximately two seasons. However, it blooms from March through November.

I am learning the hard way, I got two black foot daises a few weeks back one is doing good the other looks like it's called it quits.Black foots like to be very dry so I don't think this one would work with roses.
I looked up the Marquerite daisy it's very pretty but it is an annual and needs lots of water,cannot dry out in between watering.

Well, I'm sure glad I asked. I definitely want a perennial, not an annual. Sounds like Black Foot may not be that great of a choice either. Back to the drawing board!

There used to be blackfoot daisys growing in the vacant lot for years. Of course when it was cleared to build the house they covered them with St. Augustine grass.
I have a good sized one that gets some water once in a while. This is it's 3rd spring in the ground.

I LOVE blackfoot daisy and have grown it for several years in a bed with some antique roses. It doesn't like too much water. Once a week is more than enough. But it is short-lived. The longest one of mine have lived is 3 years. But when alive, it's a show stopper! It gets more comments than the roses! Well worth it!

I planted a blackfoot daisy in a spot that doesn't get much water. I have it next to a damianita. So far, the blackfoot daisy is doing much better than the damianita, which I'm afraid may be dying.

Has anyone grown Black Foot daisy from seed? I Winter Sowed some this year and as yet have not seen sprouts. taterbug

I've got blackfoot daisies I've grown from seed. I just scatter seeds from the mother plant all during the summer whenever they seem ripe in places where I think I'd like some more. By the next spring, they're blooming. I'd heard they were picky about too much water, but that hasn't seemed to be the case for me. They grow exuberantly in beds watered enough to keep daylilies and roses happy.

Has anyone tried dividing Blackfoot daisy to see if it extends the life and/or invigorates the plant?

Wow I was fixin' to jump in here to state the Marguerite Daisy was definetely a perennial cuz I just bought 7...but then...oops....I bought 7 Cape Daisy's....Margerita de Cepa..yellow flowers....Sorry
This one is a perennial..and as I was reading about this plant ... one tag says it gets 5' tall the other says it gets 24"-30" tall..sheshhh..wish you could count on tags...
But I love this flower...and think I am going back to get more!

hmm, now I'm undecided. Maybe I just get one of two plants of the Black Foot Daisy and then get a couple of other perennials that I know will continue to come back. I love the Copper Canyon Daisy, but I was thinking of something either white, pink, or purple. What about the white coneflowers? It seems like I heard that they don't do as well as the pink ones, but they sure are pretty. I also thought about the purple verbena. Isn't that a perennial? My mother mentioned white plumbago, but she didn't really know anything about it.

Mine never look taller than 2 1/2 - 3' becaise they cascade over.
They dont mind be cut back, root easily.

I'm not familiar w/ the Marguerite, but I have a patch of Blackfoot Daisies that comes back every year. And every year is lovelier than the last! It does self-seed, but very slowly so not invasive. I have mine out in the H*** Strip where the concrete all around keeps it nice and toasty. I do water it everyday when it gets REAL hot, but otherwise don't do anything but cut it back a bit in the fall. It is blooming now and will bloom til Fall. I personally love this plant and get lots of compliments on it! I started out with two or three 4" pots and it is now a nice mound of white daisies! I'll post a photo later, can't find them now.

This one is from this Spring. See how they move around? But always come back! I've got them paired w/ Four Nerve Daisies. And like how they cover up the Guara's when they have gone dormant.
