I would pot them up to make sure they don't spend energy trying to stay alive while out of the ground. They need their energy now to prepare their blooms.

You mean Cherokee Co? I'm not far away in Tyler and am wanting some Amarylis. Where will this sale be? What days and times?

personally, I'd save your pots and soil and sell the bulbs as is. Maybe $2-$4.00 each, depending on what size they are. If these are the ones that are blooming right now, most people call them schoolhouse lilies. But there are regular large flowered red amaryllis, too. I do not mind buying bulbs and irises bare root. Most gardeners wouldn't.

the daylilies I would pot up, just because the roots can dry out fast. Just label them as mystery daylilies. If someone wants a named variety, they won't buy it. But many of us don't mind a surprise now and then. You can tell people that they could be the plain orange ditch lilies. Some people don't have those and wouldn't mind a start of them !

The sale is at the the Texas Forest Service, 1015 SE Loop 456 in Jacksonville. Friday the 9th, begins at about 8:30. If it rains, it will be held Sunday the 10th.

None of them have actually bloomed yet...but a few have swollen buds. Maybe by Saturday they will be out. Great idea on the mystery day lilies.

Any suggestion on crinums? I have some at the farm, the orginal ones were planted 80 years ago. They are the standard white, with light pink stripes. Don't have any idea what to charge for them either. But thought I'd take a couple to see how they go.

I would pot the amaryllis if they have buds and leaves to keep them moist and going. If they are the old red ones, they might be St. Joseph Lily and those sell for a pretty price...but you don't know. They might be Minerva or Red Lion. All of these reds are great varieties.

A big crinum can go for $30 easily. If it is the old tough one it is either more valuable to someone seeking that or less valuable to someone who grew up with them and took them for granted....smiles. If it has some "pups" that would be really exciting to someone like me hoping to start a clump.

Take your hands, palms facing and touch the fingers: thrumb to thumb around to little finger to little finger. I paid $40 for an old whilte crinum whose bulb was that size. I takes 10 years to get it that big...at least that is what I was told.

I wish I lived closer, I'd love some of those crinums! But, I'm in the camp of "anything that old that's doing that well, I want!". :) I've paid $8 for a bag of three small ones at Calloway's before, so you can use that also to guide the price.

The crinums have lots of pups...that's one reason they are everywhere here at the farm. The last time I moved any of the original ones we had some really big bulbs. As I said they are really old. My grandmother-in-law planted them in the early 1900's around 1915 or so. I know they have been where they are since at least 1940. Everyone in the family says "I hate them" and "I'd hate to see them gone" in the same sentence. Since we have current occupancy that means, they are here to stay..At least until I decide to leave the country for good. Some of these cousins are BIG and MEAN...lol.
