Did I kill my wisteria? And other w. related questions.

Earlier this summer I gave my 3 wisteria (all on chimneys) a light pruning, being in VA after about a month I had suckers everywhere massing into bushy clumps that blocked out window views and spread where they weren't supposed to go. Last week I got a little fed up at how they grew back so much so I really got into it...I think a little too much. I had my ladder up against the chimney and I couldn't really see what was going on--I ended up pruning a good 60% of the green on the tree leaving the main vine. Carrying away two massive cartfulls of vine and leaf. I'd like to think that I haven't killed the wild/poor thing -- you think I'll be okay? Also when does wisteria bloom? Summer or spring? (Probably a vague question because of all the varieties but I'm still curious) Also which part blooms? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
