Yet another what wrong with my Toms thread

Howdy

I made three batches of home made soilless potting mix.

2 are great. Never seen any growth like it before.

The third has problems.

I am without camera at the moment so I will describe the situation the best I can.

When I make mixes it by the yard and by feel, not at all exact.

The mix contains in inexact amounts

mostly peat

some vermiculite

some perlite

a *very* limited amount "topsoil" of unknown origin, mostly sand

a small amount home made compost of known trusted origin

limited alfalfa meal

fish bone meal

a small amount of borax

a wee bit o' dolomite lime

jersey green sand

a dusting or 3 of granite rock flour

a smidgeon of kelp

rock phosphate in semi liberal doses

a touch of gypsum

an excessive amount of Zeba. A natural water retention additive

and a couple other goodies I do not recall.

I tried google but most the links are to deficiencies,

not excesses of nutrient X as I suspect is the case.

All plants are in Earthtainers.

PH looks good, 6.5 on the nose.

Full sun.

Sypmtoms for most plants

happy for a week or two

then leaf edges turn yellow, brown, then die

inner leaves between veins turn yellow, tan, then

have dead brown spots.

the symptoms work from bottom to the top of the plant.

The symptoms are to one degree or another cross species.

The ?brassicas?(broccolie/califlower/brussle sprouts)

seem less affected to date, but still affected.

Beans, melons, lettuce, severely affected.

Toms, tommatillos almost all are severely affected and on edge of death, except the Glacier, which seems *mostly* ok except the bottom leaves. The glacier is growing well.

The cukes are affected. They live on and grow strong, but with very yellow leaves.

Corn seems totally unphased.

Potatoe, similar.

The water retention capabilities o the soilless mix is

unreal. Too good I suspect. I watered them once, about

a month and half ago.

The containers are still wet despite the VERY unseasonably dry and warm weather.

Any ideas?

Can I rip the affected plants ouut and replant those types

without too much damage?
