Photinia - Red Tip
Comments (2)Our house had a hedge of photinia when we moved in, but we removed all but one they looked so bad. This year the one remaining is showing the blight. We've removed the worst branches (needed to let in some light anyway) and are waiting to see if the whole tree will get it. Fortunately other things have grown enough to offer privacy if we have to take it down. What's really bothering me is that my redbud seems to have the same thing. Round spots on most of the leaves. Does the photinia blight spread to other plants?...See MoreYellow and dying leaves? What's wrong with my gardenia?
Comments (3)I've been having problems also with yellow leaves on my gardenias. I water every day because it's been hot and dry. They are in partial shade. I mulched with cypris mulch and used some epson salt as well as fertilizer. They are flowering but the leaves are yellow. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Comments (4)Cooler summers LOL! It's hard to imagine anywhere hotter then here in the summer. But at least our summer nights get cooler then some other places, and I think Phoenix is one of them. Yes, I am talking about the original Japanese one. I bought a 3 gallon on special for $7.50 and when I took it home I divided it to get two plants! What a deal! I plan on letting it grow pretty naturaly without pruning for tailored shrubs like is usually done with them. Since it will only get about 15 feet (I have read about others around 30 feet in other parts of the country), I think I will plant it close to my patio on the east side. But it will have full all day direct sun and provide some shade to the patio....See MoreMy plants are dying? What am I doing wrong?
Comments (6)A few hours of LED light each day is clearly not enough replacement for plants (like echeverias) that crave full to shaded sunlight. Mine winter with grow lights up to 8-10 hours a day on a timer, even that is not enough to replace what natural sunlight provides. I set them about 2-3 inches from the actual light bulb, so if you can, adjust your lamp closer to the plants. If you are worried about overwatering, get a small fan to ventilate, and make sure the water doesn't sit in the bottom. Plants wise, your plants are looking fine. As crenda mentioned, flowers wilt and dry away. The most important things to keep watch are how the leaves grow. Healthy roots and leaves = healthy plants....See Morebostedo: 8a tx-bp-dfw
