It isn't just small suppliers. I had 20 yds of 5 way topsoil delivered for a seeded lawn from a major supplier in Woodinville once. While spreading it out I picked out a lot of broken glass. Some as large as a dinner plate. I then raked it out, seeded it, and then lightly watered it. Glass showed up all over! Customer was NOT happy! I filled up two five gal. buckets and brought it back to the supplier and asked that they deliver another ten yards without glass for free so I could cover up what was already spread out. They refused. Things deteriorated into a yelling match and I was physically thrown out into the parking lot by a couple of truck drivers the dispatcher called in. I had to buy additional topsoil from another company on my own dime to complete the lawn and you can be sure it wasn't Pacific Topsoils. I promised them as I left that I would bad mouth them as long as I lived. Mike

sounds like the morning glory you are growing have crossed with another morning glory and that is why the seeds are a different color. I would venture to guess that the seeds are ripe and viable as there are several MG that have a whitish color seed. I had some seeds for a morning glory called Sydney that I sowed. All the seeds where very small and a whitish color. The blooms on 3 of the vines where sydney, the blooms on the 4th vine where different and when I collected the seeds from that 4th bloom, the seeds where black, but the same size and appearance of the tiny sydney seeds. I grew those seeds separately this year and the flowers from that 4th vine where different again, but the whitish ones bloomed sydney. You may or may not be growing a star of yelta as well but thought you where. I would post your question over on the vine forum as there is a person Ron, who knows a great deal about morning glory and may be able to give you a better answer than I have. It would also be good if you could post a picture of the flower that you got those whitish seeds from when you post on the vine forum. Fran

Roundup works on it only if you can spray the whole plant...which is hard to do when it's intermingled with lawn and around desirable plants. If you just spray the crown, it will only damage the plant; not kill it. (adage applies: what doesn't kill it, makes it stronger.) If you grab all the vines and pull them all into a strip, and spray that strip, making sure every leaf is dripping wet; it works. But who can do all this when you have 50 million of them growing everywhere. I prefer to use Weed-B-Gone, as it works too, but you have to use the same idea. You can't just spray the crown, you have to spray down the vines and all over the leaves. At least weed-b-gone doesn't kill the lawn grass, tho. (ps under no circumstances, let it go to seed. Each seed is incredibly viable. The only redeeming quality the plant has is its cute, little flowers....but you must force yourself to keep them plucked off.)
