I have found a bunch grape growing semiwild in a long abandoned yard (now a thicket) where the house was torn down many years ago, this in central SC where bunch grapes routinely die in a few years. It looks a bit like "Concord," tastes a bit like it, and ripens irregularly in a bunch as "Concord" is reported to do in hot climates. It must be PD resistant. Could it possibly be a "Concord" bud mutation with some PD resistance? In any case, it got accidentally trimmed along the edges of the yard where it grew best in sunshine (a parking lot abuts). so I cannot get dormant cuttings this season.

Thanks for the links, GB. I'll check them out. Good to know about Orlando, I think I'll steer away from that variety just to be safe. Florida seems to have done some nice work on developing PD resistant table grapes, so I'm considering these varieties as well: Norton/Cynthiana Darlene Black Beauty Late Fry I'm going to also look into Lake Emerald and Stover. Haven't found much info on either of these two varieties for table grape taste and disease resistance, so more searching is in the works. I also found a great link on home grape growing from Oregon State University Extension Service. It is document EC 1305. Really well written with very nice diagrams and drawings. You can download it by clicking on the "View it Now" link on this page. Very helpful for someone new to growing grapes on a home hobby basis. Very basic, with excellent drawings. I'm kind of a visual learner, so this document has really helped. Also, there are a couple of great videos from Dave's Garden on YouTube about how to prune grapevines, both spur and cane pruning that were really excellent. Patty S. Update It turns out that what I was looking for is right under my nose. I was doing a little cleanup yesterday and found that I do have a bunch grape on the place already. I bought this place this past spring and have had time only to throw in the garden. I have lots of work to do on the place that is waiting for cooler weather, including a massive bamboo removal job. I was clearing a small area in the corner of my chain link fence and found a small grape vine. At first I thought muscadine due to the leaves but they weren't quite right for a muscadine (round and toothed like a muscadine but with a pronounced point rather than being nearly round) the clincher was forked tendrils. I have no clue as to variety but do know that it is at least three years old as the previous owners were only here for two years and I serious doubt they had anything to do with grapes other than the bottled version. Judging from the main vine at the base it is even older than that being over an inch in diameter and appearing to have survived multiple attacks of the weedeater. All canes were small being pencil sized with short nodes. It is also in a terrible location being in a corner on a boundary fence behind a crepe myrtle (those will be going along with the bamboo). I guess I need to develop a mangment plan for it with some TLC and we'll see what I got.

I plan on getting a Victoria Red (even though one guys blog showed them heavily infected with PD). I was also looking for Conquistador but have had no luck finding a source. I need another Luc's Garcinia if you will part with one and I'm looking for anyone stateside with Eleagnus latifolia or So Shang. I have ordered cuttings from Oscar but none of them rooted and I have seeds coming from Luc but I think they are held up on the border since it has been almost a month. garymc - I have another section of the yard devoted to Muscadines so that area is full. And I have some wild grapes (Possum grapes? whatever they call the little tiny dark ones) rooting and they seem immune to Pierce's Disease.
