"Conquistador" maybe. You might also try "Orlando Seedless" but it turned out not to be fully resistant to PD. It may be OK for dooryard planting though where not much is risked.

Thanks for the links, GB. I'll check them out. Good to know about Orlando, I think I'll steer away from that variety just to be safe. Florida seems to have done some nice work on developing PD resistant table grapes, so I'm considering these varieties as well:

Norton/Cynthiana
Darlene
Black Beauty
Late Fry

I'm going to also look into Lake Emerald and Stover. Haven't found much info on either of these two varieties for table grape taste and disease resistance, so more searching is in the works.

I also found a great link on home grape growing from Oregon State University Extension Service. It is document EC 1305. Really well written with very nice diagrams and drawings. You can download it by clicking on the "View it Now" link on this page. Very helpful for someone new to growing grapes on a home hobby basis. Very basic, with excellent drawings. I'm kind of a visual learner, so this document has really helped. Also, there are a couple of great videos from Dave's Garden on YouTube about how to prune grapevines, both spur and cane pruning that were really excellent.

These are muscadines. Very few of the many other muscadines have PD susceptibility but how many will thrive in 9A I don't know.

I've grown "Blue Lake" for decades right next to other grapes dying of PD. It, and a few others you mention, may not pass muster as table grapes though, even if they are fine for jelly and wine and probably even juice.

The PD resistant Florida selections are hard to find but there are a few small private sources. I did a lot of searching with just so so results. The ones I found I got last year are not big enough to share yet. Womach Nursery has Norton, popular in Texas and Missouri I believe.

Thanks, GB. Our 9a zone in S. California is not really like anyone else's zone 9a in the country :-) My high temps can reach in the high 90's low 100's, and we rarely if ever get temps that drop below 32 degrees. Vista, California has the reputation of having "the best weather in the United States". We are very temperate. Which means we can grow just about anything :-) So, even vines that are better suited to the heat of SE USA can still grow here well. We get enough heat, and none of the humidity, which is great for not having to deal with fungal stuff. But the muscadines are so resistant to just about everything, I'm thinking they are a good choice. I just bought Lon Rombough's book, "The Grape Grower" and it is really helpful. I'll definitely check out "Blue Lake", thanks. And, I'm hoping someone can describe the taste of muscadine grapes. I'm a novice, and have never tasted anything except your standard table grape fare you can get in the grocery store. My favorite is Red Flame Seedless, so I migh even try contacting some local vineyards to see if they can also give me some good suggestions.

The flavor of muscadines might be hard to describe. Possibly a little more acidic than other grapes but still sweet. They have much thicker skins (hulls) which some people don't eat (though many do, I do) and some people make hull pie or chutney with. It is the aroma that is so distinctive with muscadines. While I would miss other grapes, I'd be devastated to go forever without muscadines! I live within about 100 miles of where many of the early selections were found in the wild and the woods here are filled with wild ones, along with a number of small vinyards, and many home vines (though mainly on older places).
