What variety should I choose if I had Thrips the last few years?

I have a few questions here. SLC, UTAH so I have time to ask a few.

I have had thrips real bad the last 2-3 seasons. I usually have 8-16 plants of various varieties. My Brandywine's last season seemed to have the thickest thrip infestation of any plant ever. I sold the kids playset so I am moving the 5x10' raised beds about 60' North Where toms have never been .

#1 question.. Do I use all new dirt or move it too.? and if I use new What do I do with the old dirt?

#2 question what would be a good Thrip resistant plant?

I have tried many varieties and its hard to beet early girl IMHO.

#3 I saw some Goliath seedlings today. What is your opinion on them?.

#4 How do I find out what all disease resistance letters mean? VFFNTAS

It is considered normal to plant your toms about mid May around here. I have done them as early as April ! using wall of waters. I use WOW every year. Last year I kept them on all season?? not really sure if that made much of a difference. My plants get 5-6' tall every year.

By the way we like BLT's and then we make freezer spaghetti sauce in the fall.
