Moonie, I do that alot I love to watch tv~~my 4 hour job gets in the way sometimes. I also take showers and put on clean PJ's my young DD and mom do the same thing. DD wore her PJ's to her early morning college classes sometimes in slippers too, then zipped home and showered and dressed for the rest of the day. She will ride along in the car in her PJ's or drive over to pals houses in her PJ's maybe she is you secret sister:)

I can't stop cooking in my remodeled kitchen!!!! Here are more things I've been making. I was much more successful with this batch of fathead dough pigs in blankets than the first time (as shown in a previous post). I wrapped the weiners with raw fathead instead of partially baked. Easy and delicious! Fathead dough pizza. I'm hooked. My first attempt at jalapeno poppers. I obviously couldn't decide how to wrap them in bacon and sort of gave up. But they tasted good! Nachos made with provolone cheese instead of tortilla chips. I quartered slices of provolone and microwaved them on parchment paper until they were crisp. Then I topped them with some leftover roast and other goodies. They were awesome! Beef and veg stir fry with Chinese five spice. Chicken & veg stir fry using Chinese five spice: Gumbo is comfort food. That's not rice, however, it's shirataki (fake) rice. I've been doing lots and lots of omelets for weekend breakfasts: I used some leftover baked chicken and broccoli to make a little lunch.

NHL - I can see where the Fall would definitely bring some sad memories.... And I didn't mention - the other thing about Fall is the coming holidays, with all the emotional baggage they bring: ups and downs, and decorating, cleaning, baking, shopping, etc., etc.... Oh well, its all about attitude, right? And looking for the positive. And one question for all of you hostaholics: about those 'nubbins' on my Honey Pie (and I have them on a number of others).... do you try to cover them for the Winter? I was out perusing them the other day and quite a few of mine want to ride pretty high on the soil. By that I mean - I planted them so the crown was the same as it was in the little pot it came in. But over the summer they seem to have lifted themselves up, with some roots clearly visible along the sides as they reach down into the soil. And I'm pretty sure its not water erosion or soil compaction. I didn't brush anything away in order to take that picture above, and to see that growth. It's maybe similar to what I saw with my Blue Mouse Ears that was in a pot for the last few years.... it just wanted to have all the eyes sitting up on top... On those out in the garden, should I mulch in those places before Winter? Or is this okay?

Waypoint - i can relate to your comment about preferring cool colors and thinking about trying the warmer colors we associate so strongly with Heleniums, I struggled with how to bring them into my mostly cool color dominated garden. Only one of my areas features warmer colors. It is centered around possibly my favorite rose, Matangi. Its red orange flowers flash wirh random splashes of silvery white and its petals have silvery white undersides. The flowers are particularly long lasting. I’ve mixed in grasses (Pennisetum) and last fall added Heleniums and I think it looks very nice. So much so that I’m going to try to find more Heleniums for next year. But last fall I mixed Heleniums into my perennial bed with a certain degree of apprehension. I’ve always been attracted to the cool colors for my garden. Almost all of my many roses are in cool colors. My perennial bed is dominated by the colorful new Echinaceas, along with Agastache and Penstemon and grasses and almost everything is what would be defined as cool colors. But some of the more irresistible Echinaceas cross the line into warm colors, so I’ve just added them in anyway and found they blend in without causing any wincing. But the warmly colored Heleniums make more of a color statement than the Echinaceas do and I was worried how that would work out. This year at least the Echinaceas were pretty much done when the Heleniums started blooming so it’s been almost a non issue. I’m going to quit worrying about it. As an aside, I had my colors done years ago and based on my skin tones, eye and hair color (but mainly skin tones) I was classified as a “vivid bronze autumn”. That certainly matches with my lifelong preference for fall with its marvelous array of warm-toned leaf colors. My wardrobe consists entirely of those warm color tones. But oddly my garden has not reflected my personal style at all. Instead, I’ve always had a clear and dominant preference for the cool colors in the garden. The Heleniums are steering me in a new direction!
