Going out of town - WWYD

So, we're going on a trip Friday for 4 days/3 nights and I'm torn regarding how to leave my tomato plants. I can plant them in their beds now w/ the drip & the weather's forecasted to be alright - not great since nighttime temps will get in the 40's. However, I do have lots of milk cartons w/out bottoms so I could trim the tapered tops as well & just leave it around the plants to try & protect them w/out cooking them. Or, I could just leave them in their current containers all in their under-the-bed rubbermaid container out on the outside table in the sun, water them well before leaving & arrange some kind of soaker hose on a timer to water the bottom of the container to keep them bottom feeding. They're already hardened off, spending all day outside in the sun (only coming in at nights) so hardening off isn't an issue. What would you do? Thanks!
