After talking to her tonight I really want to go now. She is going to have to have help the rest of the week so my sister is going to have to take off work and she is barely surviving now and Mom is having to move in with her. I feel really guilty that I can't do more. I can help money wise but not being close enough to help with other things is driving me crazy. My sisters fridge went out today and Mom is moving in on Friday if she is out of the hospital. I found a nice used one on craigslist in her town and was able to pay for it with paypal. The weird thing is he lives in Mississippi and had to put his mother in law in the nursing home and she has all this brand new house full of furniture and appliance that are only 8 months old that they are getting rid of and are wealthy and don't need it so they aren't being picky about the prices. It was strange I found him on the internet and neither of us lives in Louisiana and both going to help our Moms there this weekend. What a blessing. Now I dont have to haul so much stuff from here. I can just send my sister to check it out and get what they need and pay him for it online. I told her if there was anything else they needed to get it and they can sell their older stuff for what they can get for it and I will pay the difference so they can be a little more comfortable at least. I hope he has a good bed. My Mom really needs another one. We all pitched in and got her one last year but the one she wanted was out of stock and she settled for something cheaper and used the rest of the money on other things she needed and has never been happy with it. I spent the day getting new tires for the truck and working but had my mind on how I was going to carry everthing down there. She wants books which I have a ton of and all my sisters want plants and my daughter is just happy to see me. She is a blessing too. My sisters are so excited about the brugs, lol. I will take them each different kinds so they can swap cuttings when they get bigger. I really need to take off work one day this week and get everything ready but I can't. I need to sell a car before I leave to try and get some extra money to help them with the moving and expenses. Wish me luck. I will be a cleaning waxing machine tomorrow, lol. Drought Lands Doubled By LiveScience Staff posted: 11 January, 2005 9:45 a.m. ET The amount of land ravaged by droughts has more than doubled over the last 30 years, and the key factor, according to a recent analysis, appears to be the rise in global temperatures. Scientists at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) studied the widespread drying trends in Europe, Asia, Canada, western and southern Africa, and eastern Australia. They found that the fraction of the Earth experiencing very dry conditions rose from about 10-15 percent in the early 1970s to about 30 percent in 2002. The researchers claim that almost half of this drastic change is due to global warming as opposed to a decrease in rainfall or snowfall. In fact, the average global precipitation has increased slightly over the past few decades. "Global climate models predict increased drying over most land areas during their warm season, as carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases increase," said Aiguo Dai, lead author. "Our analyses suggest that this drying may have already begun." Warmer temperatures cause more evaporation drying out certain areas, while drenching others in rain and snow. Evidence of the latter is the United States, which has become wetter overall especially between the Rocky Mountains and Mississippi River over the last 50 years, says Dai. Other parts of the world showing a moistening trend include Argentina and parts of western Australia. "Droughts and floods are extreme climate events that are likely to change more rapidly than the average climate," Dai said. "Because they are among the world's costliest natural disasters and affect a very large number of people each year, it is important to monitor them and perhaps predict their variability." Dai will present the new findings on Jan. 12 at the American Meteorological Society's annual meeting in San Diego. The work also appears in the December issue of the Journal of Hydrometeorology.

We do all kinds of kebabs, using whatever meats and veggies we have on hand. I also do whole chickens, turkeys and roasts, Potatoes in foil: diced potatoes, butter, herbs, sometimes some cheese, garlic and onion, too. Salmon is one of my favorites, usually just grilled with a little lemon pepper. This is an oven recipe but I make it on the grill, too. Salmon Baked in Foil 1 (6-8lb.) salmon, cleaned 1c sliced carrots 1c sliced onion 1c sliced celery 1/2 tsp fresh thyme leaves salt to taste 1/8tsp coarse ground black pepper 1 clove garlic, minced 1 bay leaf 2c dry white wine Preheat oven to 400 degreesF. Place large piece of heavy duty foil (enough to wrap entire fish) on jelly roll pan. Place salmon on foil and add remaining ingredients. Wrap and seal foil tightly around salmon. Bake 50-60 minutes or until fish is opaque and fin can be easily removed. Remove from oven and col. Skin and bone fish and serve with Hollandaise or sauce of your choice. Serves 8-10 Linda

I've been watering every 10 days, and it seems to have been ok. I didn't think a few more days without watering would cause disparate results! The cold, dry air sounds like it may have been the culprit. My apartment has a draft and it seems to have cooled down in temps in my area last week. My Meyer lemon was next to this satsuma...and it has gone to citrus heaven. All my other citrus in a different part of the apartment were ok. I have a heating mat underneath because it tends to get cold in my apartment. I used to have some Bears limes that did very well after I put a heating mat underneath. After reading these comments, I moved the satsuma with my other citrus. Hope that may help! thanks!
