Need help with my papaya trees both growing and fruiting

So I am in Southeastern Oklahoma and grew some papaya trees from Solo seeds off an organic farm on the Big Island (the fruit were shipped by a local organic food co-op).

I managed to keep them alive inside last winter, where two of them grew to about 4 or 5 feet tall.

I moved them outside (still in pots) this spring hoping to get some fruit. Well, they are now about 6 to 7 feet tall and I get these little nubbins on the trees, near the top. They just yellow and drop off. I was told that the Hawai'i papayas are not male/female and thus I should be able to get fruit without any complication. What is going on? I have a picture of the nubbins here:

Next up, the leaves seem to be turning yellow rather quickly. I know papayas are supposed to drop lower leaves, but I am a bit worried that the dying leaves are going to outpace the new ones. I have a picture of this here:

and a close up of the a leaf yellowing here:

I have put chicken manure with wood chips along with a small amount of epsom salts as fertilizer. Any further help would be appreciated. I want to keep my papaya trees both alive and fruiting!
