Hot weather with wonderful fruits. I think I can stand a week there...lol. But I can stay a month if I have an AC in the house. I can just stay in the house and eat rambutan, longan, mangosteen, jackfruit, durian, longkong, sugar apple, lychee...etc.

Since no international trip for me this year, we decided to go to Florida and Canada. We ate some really good atemoya there last time. Canada also had the longkong. Canada usually have all the above fruits year round.:)

Yes...AC is a must. Unfortunately no one has central air like we do. Only certain rooms are blessed...TV room and bedrooms. They rely on fans for the other rooms and for me that really doesn't cut it. I'd want one in the bathrooms for a number of reasons! But the first would be that once you are finished with your shower, you cannot stay in there. I wrap the towel and scramble for the bedroom where I have the AC and a fan going! Then I don't venture out of that room again.

Pretty nice that Canada receives that sort of fruit. I'd like to try it and see how well it traveled.

ch3rri- where in canada do they have longkong and other tropical fruits?

Gerry.....almost all of the big cities.....Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, for sure, have large Asian populations and markets with just about everything that grows over there (The Far East and the islands of the western Pacific, like the Phillppines) and can be shipped with success. I had some in Montreal that were about ping pong ball size. They were sweet, but had some tartness too. Don't worry, they're no where close in flavor to lychees.....IMHO.

Ahhhh...Harry my friend...a good lychee is hard to beat. However, the longkong is simply divine.

I have a feeling my wife and I will be heading to Canada sometime soon. We'll have to check with any of our far northern members as to what is available.

I guess I'll have to reserve final judgment for the time that I am able to get fresh Longkong from the tree. What I tasted was good but maybe rated a 6-7 in relation to a fresh tree picked lychee rating a solid 10. There were some fruits that were more acidic than others. Some were very sweet. Overall, a very interesting fruit.

Speaking of heat, i did a little searching here and just wanted to run this past you. If you like that Bangkok weather, just move to Miami. For the month of June, both cities are almost the same, comparing Don Muang Arpt in Bangkok to Miami International...DM avg 86F for the month, while MIA is avg 85F, although MIA has a higher avg dew point (75F vs 74F)... So these dudes on here that live down there live that every day! at least during the summer months... i run to AC when the dew goes above 70F here.

Nice pics. Thailand would be a dream trip, if i could go by boat, since i would never make it that long on an airplane.

Thanks for keeping us in reality weatherwise. I didn't really want to complain too much, after our bitter winter, but it has been ridiculously hot and humid here in S. FL. Today, another day with mid-90's for an air temp (especially out west where I live). Heat index is supposed to be around 105....down from the 109 we had about a week or so ago. Not sure about all this index business but i am able to say, with confidnece......its freakin' hot here!

Temps were averaging in the high 90's while we were there. Just prior to our arrival they were much much hotter. The Thai's were actually calling it "cooler". The night time temps averaged 85 at least. Humidity pushed to percentages where it might as well have been raining. I've been to Miami in the summer time. Oh yeah, it's hot, but the sun, heat, and humidity just feels more fierce over there. Almost feels like the sun is sitting on your shoulders at times.

Besides...if I moved to Florida...Harry might not appreciate squatters moving onto his property!

It has been ridiculously hot down here so far. Mid 90's every day without a drop of rain. My plants should love it, but I need to water the potted ones every day and they are still wilted when I get home. I think I am going to have to paint all of my pots white to keep the root temps down a little.
