This year's X-mas card

There was a submission grappling tournament this weekend in Abilene. Erin managed to catch a great action shot. I knew he was setting up for a single leg take down so I let him have it and I slipped in a front guillotine choke. I knew I had the choke in deep and I tightened it as hard as I could, but I didn't realize I lifted him off the ground by his neck.

I took first in my weight division and third in the absolute (no weight divisions).

One of my team members had video camera and I think he taped some of my matches, I'll try and post the videos later.

PJ- there was Kali full contact stick fighting, that stuff is vicious.

Um like dude, I think you could kick my rear end even if I had my staff and had practiced quite a bit more. The guy on the right(sitting on the floor) is looking at you like,"I sure hope he didn't crush that dude's trachea". The guy on the the left("soldier" shirt) looks like,"Oh c**p hope I'm not next". LOL!

You did really,really well. I'd love to see you do your thing in person.
I miss Kali. I can't find a place to practice Kali here in DFW. I'm kind of sad about it. Sticks are fun! Good job!
BTW, I'm not sure if that captures the Christmas spirit. Then again, watching some people shop, it just might! :^) PJ

It is funny you mention that guy sitting on the floor. That is who I fought for first in my weight division. We were tied at the end of the regular match duration, then tied again after the first overtime. I pulled the win by points to end the 2nd overtime. I watched the video later and I was robbed 2 points on a takedown. I should have won in the regular timed match...oh well.

Hi ..... I don't know if you can force it to bloom... if I were to try to force it....I would repete what I do in the fall...(I keep my cc outside all summer and in the fall I leave it outside until its going to freeze and then I move it to my garage until it is going to freeze in there and then move it in the house to my living room and by that time it is budding) well I can't do that now as it is winter but I can put it down stairs where it is cooler...I guess I would set the plant in front of my patio door down stairs and wait until it started to bud and then move it upstairs in my living room....Hummmmmm I might just do that and see if it will bloom again.... I think its the cool temps that makes them bloom not how much light they get or what the light source is..... thats just my thinking.......good luck.....linda

My son came home from Army training and my nephew came back from Iraq, so it was probably one of the best Christmases we've had. My uncle and his new wife and my 2nd cousins came as well. We haven't seen them in years. That was great. The grown ups didn't exchange gifts. DH & I did. He spoiled me. He got me a suede coat, diamond watch and really nice knife set. I just got him some clothes, driving gloves & riding gear for his motorcycle. We had our Christmas two days later when SD came back from BM's. We got my son & his wife a new bed, my other son got shoes & clothes (hint hint... job interview digs), my daughter got a book she wanted, CD player, and massage for her neck. My SD got clothes, shoes, backpack, two coats (including a southpole coat she really wanted), laser tag, and guitar hero. It's been cold (for CA) here. It hailed on Christmas day and even snowed for a minute. But, it wasn't too bad. We didn't have to drive until Saturday. My plan for New Years Eve & New Years day is to SLEEP! (and my dad is having us over for dinner)

snookums - I do lean towards the warmer white and the ORB hardware, just like the finishes in your pictures (love those pulls!). That's a great example of white cabinets blending well with the copper and natural wood details. I just posted on my other post on Home Dec that if I paint my current cabinets I would use SW Antique White, which matches all my trim, and I think that's pretty close to what you've shown. Of course, the style of my cabinets aren't as beautiful as all the ones in these pictures, but it could make a big difference! Thank you, rosie. Those are my wood floors, although I have slate tile in the kitchen (shown below). I really like that too and it will stay if I paint my current cabinets, but will be replaced if I do a larger-scale remodel. I'm not sure if I would bring the soft pine floors into the kitchen or choose another tile floor. We've done several improvements - replaced all the electrical, drywall, ceiling, paint, new wood slider and crown/baseboard, and installed the recessed lighting and pendants, but everything else is from the PO. I've since replaced those terribly uncomfortable metal barstools with Pottery Barn wood stools. We're shopping for a stainless steel counter-depth refrigerator right now and I'd like to switch out all the appliances, because I know having mixed finishes is going to bother me. I also wouldn't want black appliances if I paint the cabinets white. There's a lot of wasted space on the other side of the room that I would like to expand into with a stand alone island and more cabinetry if we do a larger-scale remodel. Okay, getting closer.... I thought there was a brother in the family now. I vaguely remember a family reunion with sonogram pictures/tshirts or something announcing his certain arrival. I think I even remember some proud sister pictures after he was born (he is born, right?).

But, alas, I'm beginning to think we're not going to get to see the Norman Rockwell shot of the kids wearing Santa hats next to the family pet in front of the fireplace, are we????
