Is yours in a different place than last year, relative to those street lights?

Well I've never forced mine, but I didn't have blooms for a number of years, until I had an odd event in my kitchen (where I used to keep the CC). Both kitchen fixtures died at the same time (not the bulbs, the fixtures). It took several months before they were replaced & in the right color (lots of fun cooking by the light of the open refrigerator), but when they were, my CC bloomed for the first time.

Since that event, I've let mine stay in dark from natural sunset (4:30-5 pm ish here) to dawn, I believe that's all they need. Good luck!

Its been in the same place for 5 years, and this year it didnt bloom. But someone installed a VERY strong floodlight in their backyard,that now lights up the room it is in,so i called it a 'street light' to let everyone know the amount of light it is now exposed to. So I assume it was enough to mess up the bloom cycle.

I don't know if you can force it to bloom...
if I were to try to force it....I would repete what I do in the fall...(I keep my cc outside all summer and in the fall I leave it outside until its going to freeze and then I move it to my garage until it is going to freeze in there and then move it in the house to my living room and by that time it is budding) well I can't do that now as it is winter but I can put it down stairs where it is cooler...I guess I would set the plant in front of my patio door down stairs and wait until it started to bud and then move it upstairs in my living room....Hummmmmm I might just do that and see if it will bloom again....
I think its the cool temps that makes them bloom not how much light they get or what the light source is.....

Being in south Fla. it only gets 'cold' like 3 days in Jan. It gets 'cool' for maybe 3 weeks total. So cool or cold is out, and it blooms for me yearly. It was the light that hit it that threw it off. I kind of need to know how much time it needs in darkness to try and see if I can force it now...or wait till next Dec-Jan.

We had similar experiences. If your plant's location didn't change & that's the only variable, I found similarly. In my experience, it was about the having overhead light at night, since my kitchen temps don't change for the winter & that was the one variable that had changed when they first bloomed for me.

Am guessing you might try 12 hrs. of dark Aveo, like 6 pm to 6 am? Just guessing' tho'.

Hi....I guess I should have said as summer ends the fall temps are cooler and I believe with the cooler milder temps is what helps the budding...the light hours are also shorter come fall...and winter is when cc's bud and bloom.....and as I said I'm guessing and if I were the try to force them to bloom I would use cooler temps and being winter there would be shorter light hours....its all a guess.....linda
