I would give it a try with a couple, to see how you like it. They grow differently when wicked, it seems. At least mine do. The leaves tend to stick up more, and the new growth tighter. But, it grows at a more consistent rate, and I don't get the setbacks that not being able to water soon enough causes. So, the plants get to just keep on growing, rather than growing, stress out from lack of water, lose some leaves, and then recover. That whole cycle also delays flowering, for my plants. I got tired of it. But it's nice to test out wicking for yourself before converting them all. For instance, it shows you you've got your potting mix in the right proportion.

Hey Anne, Wishing you luck and in doing so I'm hoping a little karma will come my way. I grow all sorts of variegated violets. Buckeyes, Robs all have done well. The greens with creams, pinks, yellows etc. do very well,(anywhere I place them on the light stand, but I have some white and green Mac's that just drive me crazy! . I don't lose variegation (I grow cool) my issues I believe have more to do with light. Their leaves will get all bunched up or curl or don't lay flat. Some say the variegates need to be placed in the middle of light stand, that they need more light. Seems with these the more light- the worse they got. Not long ago I tried giving them much less light hours and further away from bulbs and that seemed to have done the trick. They are behaving much better. Sometimes you've got to make your own luck. Just remember that not all the "tips" may work for you. Keep on experimenting till you find what works with your growing conditions. I'm glad you made the plunge, too! I still have my eight noids that I started out with and wouldn't think of giving them up. I can always count on them, even when Mac's Rhapsody isn't Rapturous or Infared isn't Incredible. I did a quick garden survey and I see I planted some annuals where High Society once dwelt. I can move those annuals without much fuss and plunk Mellow Mood in there. It's only supposed to get to 18" in diameter. I have a slightly bigger space between my Strike It Rich rose bush and the Obligatory Bushes, so that's where I will put the Ivory Queen. I will move my tiny little Cameo from the ground and replant it in the 18" diameter ceramic pot with Appletini (glorious right now), Pure Heart and Cracker Crumbs. It will then have playmates of its own size to keep company with, while I make better use of the ground space with Coconut Custard. That's the shadiest spot I have, with only morning sun, so it should be very good for the waxy leaves of CC and not melt the wax. Urban gardening is like that flat game thing we used to play with as kids, the one with 9 enclosed tiles and one space, and you had to move tile by tile around to line up the tiles in colored rows.
