New update on Kathy (natvtxn)

Okay, the reason I couldn't get her is because she's back in the hospital. Her back is great she said but she developed a staph infection where they removed her rib and it was very painful and she was very sick.

Tomorrow she will be going back to Rehab.

She said to tell everyone *hi* and thanks for the thughts and prayers

I received a lovely package from my pal. Pal I loved the little coca cola plaque and the seeds. I so enjoy coca cola items and grin with each thing that someone finds. To answer your question. Coke items are always cool. SMILE... so are Tweety items. I collect these so I find somewhere to put them. Thank you for the very sweet notes you always include in your items, they brighten my day and make me smile. Yes, I'm doing better now. Although our spirits are battered and bruised and our family a little smaller we are adjusting. Some days are hard and some are easier. Spring has let me and my daughter get out and do things. My mother is still having a very hard time with all the deaths and that is expected, she is very ill as well and has been hospitalized a couple of times .... when she is better and her health improves both mentally and physically we will be all much better..... don't think I can deal with ANOTHER loss.... 3 has been enough... it has been a rough few months.... How did I miss this post? I've been really busy too much on my plate now days. I am sending my prayers to Kathy and well wishes for a speedy recovering. I know how the back pain is and hope that it will be all better now so she can do what she loves to do and enjoy life to the fullest. My best to you Kathy your a wonderful, caring and kind hearted person.

My secret pal sent a lovely surprise box again. A nice card with a short note. A very cute cat planter holder that wiggles, or I don't know what to call it, it is not a cat pot holder. It is a wire cat that wiggles that holds a 6 inch clay flower pot, included. I will have fun filling that pot! There is personalized stationery to use with my old people I write to. Gotta be careful there, I am in that bracket! A cute book on cats, questions and answers about cats. A real nice pair of garden gloves, which will come in handy. Mine have holes in the thumbs. Why do we just hang onto the old and not replace them? Then a super nice can of nice smelling garden soaps. No plants, which was super fine, we went to Ore. & I stopped at a few nurseries, and got plants for 50% off, and for over a week, have been working on getting them into the flower beds. I am taking pictures to send her eventually. I enjoy my secret pal, and it gives us a break in our routine. Now I have another great cat book to read! Thank you so much for all you send. P.S. we have sort of adopted a stray cat a mo. ago, and sure makes me long for a new one again. This one is outside, and always in fights, a unneutered male. Last week, he got part of his ear removed and his face all gouged up, fighting with a racoon. Have a good month secret pal!

Hi, I just wanted to make a quick note and let everybody know I did send my pal a package In October and my Secret Pal did send me a wonderful package. I have had a great deal of trouble finding time to get online and communicate to all the Gardenweb Community. I want to thank my Secret Pal for all the little gifts you sent the kids for Halloween. They needed those pencil sharpeners and erasers. They keep losing all the ones I buy them. They are managing to keep up with the little balls you sent though. The hubby liked the pen you sent him. I hung the Flower Pot Seeds hanging dor up in the Sunroom. Did you embroider the kitchen dÃ©cor yourself? That is so thoughtful. I tried embroidery when I was little but I do not have time to do stuff like that now. I hung it next to my spice rack since the saying referred to "seasoning with love." I have decided I need a shelf or something for my pretty garden cups. ThatÂs on my " honey do list". I always love reading the magazines you send. I have got a habit of thumbing through the Birds and Blooms a tonight while watching TV just to unwind-even the ones I have already read before. The Garden quotation book will work for that too. I was touched that you signed the inside cover for me. The dessert on the cover of the cooking magazine looks so good it will probably be the first recipe I try from that magazine. But, IÂm sure IÂll try more. I love finding a new recipe. The kitty kat toothbrush holder was converted to a pencil holder for my little girl. We play with our fingernails together so the emory board is coming in handy. I was excited to see the lighted magnifying glass for maps. I canÂt tell you how many times we pulled over under a street light this summer to figure out on the map where we were. Now we can do it and not lose time and hopefully not get lost. lol This weekend I will be plating some of the bulbs youÂve sent me. Usually, I donÂt so so well with bulbs. Even when the moles and squirrels didnÂt mess with them, they did not bloom. But one of the local gardeners told me it was because I needed to plant the bulbs in November. And showed me how she did hers. So, I am going to plant them her way. I am going to put the Chrysanthemums up front. And the allium and daffodils in the back yard I am sure I left something out but I am typing this from work. I just canÂt thank you from home anymore. Atleast not at the moment. There is too much going on. But, I do appreciate everything you have sent me. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for thinking of me! Leann

Wow...you know I work in the medical insurance industry, paying medical claims, and boy have we seen a rise in staph...Its scary...its a bad infection...
I am really praying that she will recover very soon...

Oh my, best wishes to her!! But since she is going back to rehab, she must be on the mend. Hopefully, she'll be back on her feet and posting again in no time at all.

Gosh, that sounds terrible. I will keep her in my prayers, and I hope that she will be coming back down to the coast to visit after she gets well.

Hey Y'all!

HA! Well, now don't get jealous, but I've been visiting my daughter and granddaughter in O'ahu, Hawaii. My SIL is stationed there with the Army and is in Thailand for the month of May, so I said, "Hey, I'm going to Hawaii! Bye DH! Take good care of all the kids (a/k/a dogs & cats)!"

OMG you just can't believe all that plants that grow wild out there. BEAUTIFUL! Truly a plant lovers paradise! I said forget about the tourist traps, and so we drove around and went to the Dole Pineapple Plantation (OK, it is a tourist trap, but a neat one with all kinds of plants.), and then we went to the Waimea Valley Audubon Center on the North Shore. Incredible. Amazing. Gorgeous. And at the end of the trail there is the Waimea Falls that flows into a beautiful pool.

And on-post, where my kids live, many of the housing units are vacant, but with great plants growing all around them. So I made good use of my walking-the-dog times to get a bunch of clippings for my daughter. One time I cut 4 huge bird-of-paradise flowers for her with some of the large green leaves and put them in a large vase for her dining room table. I got cuttings of plumerias, mother-in-law tongues, aloes, ferns, and others that I don't know the names of, but they are pretty. And right outside her door she has a huge mango tree hanging with lots of fruit, an avocado tree that they got fruit from all winter, and a couple of large jacaranda trees all in bloom. They really smelled great.

So I'm trying to get my DH to agree to head to Hawaii for turkey day! Booking in advance gives you some really good flight rates, and staying with the kids is an extra added bonus. Especially since my little granddaughter just turned one in March.

Well, I'm jealous. What a fun place to go. It would be hard to come home to my plants after seeing Hawaii though.lol

When Jolana came down I was telling her that I noticed that you hadn't posted in a long time and wondered where you were.

I figured you were just lurking.

Now I want to make my DH take me there.

It sounds like you had a great time, nothing too much better than being with your kiddos and getting to see pretty flowers, lol

I used to take my moms stamps and stick them to the back wall of my closet. Don't ask me why I have no clue.I remember her having to get way back in my closet looking for my shoes and saying,"Oh! THAT's where they are!!!" PJ

Good to hear that Kathy is doing better. I hope she is back to adding her two cents worth by the time I get back.
