Time for spring house cleaning?????

Looking around my house I think I have more dirt inside than in the garden. Wonder if it is time to stay inside for a few days. Good intentions each day but "have" to go outside to check to see if all is well in the gardens and before you know it the day is gone. Anyone relate????????

OH yeah! Justification for not starting spring cleaning: "With all doors 'n windows open to air out the house...stuff might blow in, so better wait 'til it's closed up tight when A/C has to be on."

What I manage to do inside before dawn & after dark gets done...the rest waits!

Oh, I sooo relate! We are putting down new floors and our house is a mess. I am getting really tired of it, so I am hoping that I get totally disgusted and have a clean sweep day. (Notice that I said "hoping", I haven't gotten the urge yet! LOL) I would rather be outside!

They say...if it does not pull out easily, it is a weed. If it pulls easily, it is a keeper...guess you gotta get the feel of it. How sad you cleaned a lot of your poppies...one of my very favorites. Hopefully you will have some left to enjoy. If I am in doubt about a plant, I leave it, and if it is a weed, I soon discover that it looks like tons of others on the property. Sue

I rarely pull them,I always let it grow out a bit to be sure first,but,Gramma on the other hand is her own worst enemy,she pulls out at least 3 different things a year! She is 71 and has not gotten any better over the years! She knows the difference,it just usually when it's too late! :O My suggestions is that of the medo and Linda,don't pull unless you are sure! I observe the seedlings as they grow,so if it is a weed,the next time around I know what it looks like at different stages. Don't feel bad,lots of gardeners sabotage them selves...lol..

LOL, seattlemarigene, if you like it now you should see it when it is in full stride. Maybe later I'll track down one of my older pics and post it for you. Nah, I'm not really interested in removing leaves to down-size it. While I really love the color, it is just too large a grower. There are a number of carnivorous plants I would like to get in there too but the AV would out compete them. I think I'd like to try some mini AV's in there instead. So perhaps in the spring I'll be able to get a decent trade set up. :)

I do not have enough room for purple martins, not enough space between trees and house. Its not really open enough for bluebirds either but my neightbor has a very large open lawn and I always hope that blues or tree sparrows would notice that and use my houses. Almost all the houses had dried bird poops so something has been using them for roosting this winter. I am also hopeful of someday getting nesting flying squirrels. I used to think that there were none around here but I found out last fall that this was not true as somehow one wound up inside my house. Buy was I surprised to see it. Had to open both the front and back doors open wide and then chase it around the house until it ran out. Cute little thing and smaller than I expected.

Funny you should mention this - I am sitting here debating if I should go get the vacuum and at least get a little of the debris out, but you have convinced that tomorrow is soon enough. OUTSIDE, here I come.

Lol!!! My husband came home last night, looked around and burst out laughing. I have been adament about the house staying clean, doing my FlyLady thing and fussing at anyone who dared wear their dirty shoes in the house.

Well, I kept running in and out yesterday so Michael's little mud-loving paw prints were everywhere. The mail was thrown on the table, notes were scattered, gloves and hat are on the kitchen counter, the front porch is a disaster area.

In my defense, I did get up at 4 this morning to get the place spiffed up again. The laundry is almost done, dinner is in the crock pot and I'm heading back out in a few minutes to mess it all up again :)

The key for gardeners - mandatory cleaning is only during rain. Unless, of course, the power goes out.
There are much better things to do on a dark, rainy night than clean!

Dirt, mud, bugs and worms are much more appealing, lol

The dust inside is easily taken care of but the weeds outside will get out of control, quickly!!

You HAVE to be out and on top of it and my gosh, what if there are bad bugs on your plants?

I have so little time to do anything anymore. When I do actually have ANY time..welll...
Hmmmm lets see...inside or out??...NOT inside..lol I just hate being inside when its so beautiful outside. I now love being in my back yard instead of my front so I also see that the front gardens suffer because I want to be out back where everything is well manicured all the time..lol
So mine is not only the delima of being inside or out..but front vs back...this weekend I actually made it to the front beds and finised all but 1/2 of the last of the beds needing TLC...
I hate housework...lol

My house is on a good schedule(Flylady an angel if there ever was one.) but HOLY COW...I love my lab/chow with her soft,fluffy triple coat...right up until she "blows coat" in spring! My all tile floors look like grayish black carpeting! I have to sweep EVERY day. I have to vacuume the dog too just to keep up. She doesn't like it but she'll sigh,huff, and roll her eyes right outta her head before I'll quit doing it!PJ

I'm skipping spring housecleaning this year! I can't do it and I'm too cheap to hire someone to do it for me.
Being alone so much of the time, my house doesn't get too bad, except for puppy messes & toys. My puppies like to tear up pieces of the St Augustine and bring them inside to chew on. I can relate to Michaels puppy paw prints, my tile doesn't get too bad, but the shiny wood floors show everything. My boy puppy Harley is a walking pig pen!
