I posted on that 'Troll, Porcupine, whatever' thread last night, and came here this morning and IT IS GONE!

I guess SOMEBODY got mad, or can't take constructive critisism.

Or is it just that I am really a thread killer? HUH? I can take it, y'all just let me know. LOL

Hi lovetogrowflowers. I don't think you are bothering anyone. Lucy is right, try not to stress yourself out. Take deep breaths. LOL. I think your plan for the two potted ones are perfect. I read in one of your earlier post asking about if the crawl space was ok and someone I believe said yes. For me, I WOULD strip the leaves first. The brug will be trying to take care of the leaves instead of useing its energy to go dormant. Plus you wouldn't want bugs to sneak in on a leaf and spend the winter eating your brug. :( As for the one in ground...well people cut back or don't cut back for different reasons. One of the biggest I think is for safety and the health of the plant. During the winter the brug branches will freeze so they cut them back so there is less of a chance this will happen. Who wants a mushy rotting brug in spring? How tall is the brug you still have in the ground? How close to the ground is the Y? The experts can chime in if this is a bad idea, but how about if you...1.Stip the leaves. 2.Cut off only the top green tips. (Save them) 3.Mulch as high as you can get it, at least to the Y if it's close to the ground. 4.Cover the brug with a REALY big rubber trash can or tub. 5.Maybe even cover that with an old blanket. Or would that be over kill? The cuttings you could take in and root them. Hopefully none of that was bad advice. Me and Lonny are newbies too. This will be our 2nt winter. We killed one of the two brugs we had last winter. But that was because we brought them in and tried to keep them growing. This year we brought all in again. This winter we have many more, plus young ones. We made a Brug room and have been learning lots. So we are going to give it a try. If they had been bigger, we would have left them out in ground to go dormant. Now that I have writen a novel.(sorry, long winded) Try not to worry, you brought them back to health and they are doing well enough to be around to overwinter, so I think you are doing well. Kim

You couldn't be more right in the above statement. I'm almost 45....have found myself in some bad jams over the years. One thing that I realized years ago is that everything happens for a reason and everything happens for the best. I can't tell you how many prayers I have prayed that went unanswered.....Thank God. And it is so true that the unfortunate life experiences that we endure only make us stronger. You and your brother sound like fine young men. This experience will only bring you closer and for him will lay a very solid foundation for the rest of his life. One positive that he should already benefit from is that he definitely knows now, the kind of people and relationships he should stay far, far away from. We bought our land 4 years before we built our home. We wanted to build our dream home and were not in a hurry to rush into it and then regret decisions made too quickly. I was the designer on the project and honestly enjoyed all that it entailed. We also had a wonderful builder that made the whole process go seamlessly and stress free. After we chose a house plan and had it updated to include the must-haves on our list, I poured over those plans for hours and hours making sure each room was as ideal as possible. Now is the time to decide if you want an HVAC duct in that place or a light switch or outlet in that spot. Decide if you want floor outlets, special outlets in pantries or cleaning closets. Are the rooms the right size? Could a couple feet make a difference anywhere? I sure wish we had made our laundry room 3 feet wider. Choose as many products as you can before your builder gives you his estimate. If you want granite and he's giving you laminate pricing the cost will be more. Also, painting the interior all one color is less expensive than having several rooms painted differently. Are you going with pre-painted siding or having the exterior custom painted? Are you using brick, cultured stone or natural stone? Huge difference between brick and natural stone. Plumbing fixtures vary in price as do lighting and appliances. Make sure he's taking your choices into account with his bottom line. Think about any upgrades in insulation, soundproofing, radiant heating, etc. The best advice I can give from someone who's been there, done that, is to sit down and really think about how you want the house to look, function and feel....and cost. Are there things you can't do without? For us it was a 3rd garage, his & hers master's closets, a computer space off the kitchen area where we can monitor our son, and a particular type of kitchen layout. Break the house plan down room by room if it's overwhelming but KNOW WHAT YOU WANT. If you're unsure of that then you can be talked into a lot of stuff you will find out later you really didn't need or want. Almost all of us have to stick to a budget so the trick is getting what you want overall at a price you can afford. This website is a treasure trove of information that I'm sure will benefit you in the days to come. Good luck on your build and keep your chin up.

The Eldo person posted an unpopular opinon and I thought that all the others who disagreed, disagreed quite nicely. I didn't post to it because everyone said what I would have said already.

A complaint was made I'm sure. Did anyone else receive a "friendly reminder" from Gardenweb to get along? I also got a threatening e-mail from that person & blocked them. So I guess now their only choice is to complain, complain, complain.

Heck, if I got a "friendly reminder" whenever I said something to upset someone I wouldn't get any other e-mail, or snail mail for that matter. I'm not exactly known for my, uh, tact, yeah, that's it, tact!

Hey.....the only piece that is completely finished, is a ring my wife is already wearing. Everything else is still in work (well, except the first copper pendant, but that doesn't count.)

Good thing most jewelry is mass produced. You could never afford it, based on how much work goes into making it by hand. (smile)

Some pieces have already been gifted or donated to fund raisers, that didn't involve silver smithing. So....can't photograph those.

Best piece so far, was earrings in vermeil, amethyst, and created opal, as a xmas gift to my niece. She liked 'em. Picky though......she had to have lever back ear wires.

My sister-in-law is the Queen of Galveston, Nancy is the Queen of everything-everything is her fault, and I'm just the Queen! PJ can be Queen of running. Rick is an honorary Queen.

One Mardi Gras Nancy, Mary & I were on one end of the living room, on the other end were 2 gay friends of ours. We ladies always call ourselves "the Queens". A friend of ours was sitting in the middle of us all. The gay guys didn't know about the Queen thing. Friend in middle says "I'm surrounded by all these Queens!". One end of the room burst out laughing and the other end was very perplexed!

LOL, I love it Tally :). I have had a lot of gay friends. And I love them all. The guys are great cause they can always relate to "man problems". The girls are great cause you can go on vacation with them and hubby doesn't worry that anyone is out man hunting :). Two of my best friends right now are a lesbian couple. I look at it like religion and politics....I am fine with whatever you want to do, but I have my own preferences :).

Duh!! Thanks, but I abdicate that throne, right now. The entire concept of royalty is against my nature.

Too much of a "they put their pants on the same way I do" kinda guy.

Besides, most royalty got that way, by the use of force, at some point in time. Which makes them conquerors, and not royalty, anyhoo.

yep, that is me, Rose Threadkiller.

I have flaming red wings WITH gold edges, BUT.....I have got so fat I can't fly anymore. LOL

My tights are a wee bit uncomfortable, riding up then rolling down at the waistband like that.

All that dew in the early morn makes me wet, which makes me cold.....

and, I am skeered of spiders, and can't stand spiderwebs.
