Frilly white compound flower on shrub needs ID, please

This plant was encountered near a disturbed site here in Chacala (Nayarit, Mexico). The leaves are cloven like a cow's hoof, and the individual flowers are quite frilly with long stamens. Almost reminds me of a spider lily flower, though clearly this is a dicot.

Relatively large image should help someone with more knowledge than me ID this really neat plant.

I believe this is Bauhinia Forficata -Brazilian Orchid tree

I agree the leaves look SOMEWHAT like Bauhinia, but the flower is compound, whereas the Bauhinia are solitary. Thanks.

Elderberry is a candidate but it has compound leaves. Viburnums have such clusters, there are also some dogwoods like that and the native hydrangea arborescens. If you can take a picture, there is a shrubs gallery feature and there is also a separate Name that Plant forum (folks there are excellent at id'ing stuff). Both the gallery and the other forum require you to resize your picture to 60K or less. i am saying.. since you asked.. lol.. that the version in your pic.. is really ugly .. lol ... and if... after bloom.. next year... you could cut it to the ground.. by the following spring.. you will have a very nicely formed plant .. instead of one that is leaning everywhichway .. unless you prefer it that way.. and if you do.. so be it ... i once posted a slaughtering of this plant .. years ago ... worried that i got a little carried away ... and many peeps chimed in ... that they cut theirs to the ground every season .. but they were in warmer zones than me... so i ignored them.. lol .... mom had one at their house in the 1960's.. and i still have mine, as does she .. i would never be w/o one ... in my memories.. it is extremely choice ... it just needs to be taught a lesson once in a while... lol ... all this said.. in your location.. that seems rather dark [a presumption about summer when leaves are on the other stuff] .. with the competitors... you MIGHT have trouble starting other things .... your plants all grew up together.. forcing something new in there might be a challenge ... or not.. what do i know ... from one winter pic .... ken

Is this in moist shade? At a higher elevation? It's difficult to get a sense of the plant's habit -- it looks like it rambles or declines on surrounding vegetation? My first thought was a viburnum (maybe V. lantanoides [formerly V. alnifolium])-- a cyme of fruit of many colors is typical for the genus. But those tri-compound leaves, if I'm seeing it correctly in the photo, and the fact that it blooms in August are not the habit of any native viburnums I'm familiar with. Try Bauhinia divaricata or another bauhinia closely related like B. mexicana or B. ungulata. Called pata de vaca or pata de cabra in Mexico. Most Bauhinia flowers occur in small racemes. At any rate it looks like its a Caesalpiniaceae flower and the leaves put it in Bauhinia. Its a beautiful plant.

It looks like Bauhinia mexicana (as mentioned) to me.
