January, February, March - what do you grow?

Let's talk about what we should be planting right now for color and blooms in January, February, and March! This is the time that I know I personally don't know much about, so I'm hoping this will be useful to other Tennessee gardeners who are like me - just learning.

Let's use a format so it's easy for everyone to print this out then go online or to the nursery to get these plants if desired, and to know where to plant it, etc.

I'll go first:

Latin: Chionodoxa luciliae

Common: Glory-of-the-snow

Blooms in TN: February-March

Type: Bulb

Color: Blue; White; Blue-Violet; Pink (rare)

Height: Less than 6 inches tall

Requirements: Full sun

Pests: Nematodes; May be eaten by mice, chipmunks

Propagation: by division or by sowing seed in fall

Notes: Naturalizes well if kept moist while active

Do not mow foliage for 6 weeks after bloom
