I'm back for 2011....looking for some trades too.

Well for those who remember me from the past couple years I rarely post here in the winter. Haven't been here all this past winter and now I got new fluorescent tubes and replaced one of the broken shop lights and even have a spare shop light. those 3 are ready to go and I've got some seeds, mostly from last year, some Jiffy mix and some egg cartons.

I ordered a few from Victory a couple days ago but probably waited too long...might not get those in time. We'll see.

I'm looking for a few new varieties to trade for....if you have any of these to trade, share your list of what you want to trade them for and if I have one of your varieties we can email... catman529 [at] gmail [dot] com

Wanted list:

-Sungold F1

-Coyote

-Indian stripe (failed to save seeds last year due to laziness)

-Gurney giant cantaloupe F1

-Opalka

-Whatever you think is the best oxheart

-Bhut Jolokia peppers (last year they didn't seem legit, only as hot as habaneros at best)

I might think of some others I want but I'll keep the list short for now and get whatever else I need from stores or wherever else I can.

Like I said...if you have one or more of these varieties to trade, post here or email me and name the varieties you're looking for and I'll see if I have any of them.

I don't have a list right now of my varieties but I can make one. I am at college now and my seeds are at home but I am living at home so I can go check them any time when I am home...off the top of my head, I have these varieties -

Black cherry

Black plum

Black Krim

Tiny Tim

Caspian Pink

Black beauty eggplant

Black pearl pepper

Armenian yard long cucumber (taste pretty good)

I have a few others, just ask and I can check...will probably post up here when I have a complete list.

catman, I though all wants and offers and trades were still bering done in the Exchange Forum, link at the top of where the threads start. Spike, when he owned GW, started that Forum so that it would be kept separate from this main Forum.

Have you looked in the Exchange Forum or posted there?

Just a gentle suggestion.

Carolyn, who being as old as she is and a few others here have been here as long as I have, knows that Spike created that Exchange Forum so such requests would not clog up this Forum as they did before he created that Forum. ( smile)

catman!!! Good to see you again, dude. :) I posted a thread in here about 2 weeks ago asking if anyone had seen you yet...lol. I'll definitely be on here more this year than last year, as last year I had a horrible garden due to moving twice, etc., etc.. I think I can help you with at least 1, if not 2 of your wants. Hello, been lurking a bit. Lots of good info here, thanks. FWIW, I agree that if the things you can't change are right and there is room in the price to do the rest ... thats a pretty good place to be. I knew the minute we walked into our current home, it would be ours, more than 20 yrs. ago. We had looked at a few dozen as I recall but the search was over when we got here. Since then we've added several investment props to the pile and since last fall have been looking for a new joint for us. Found an REO that is the only house of hundreds that can tick off every item on our list. Trying to convince the bank that they should stop holding on to it has been frustraiting, aggravating, stressfull etc. but now it is finally fun. They are offering counters in less than 24 hrs. and moving proposed closing dates up. Still not moving as much in price as they'll need to yet but it is vast improvement. Guess submitting the roofing bid and the well test did the trick :-) It kinda feels like I'm the lone bidder. Its got great bones and for us, a great loc. (acerage close to where we need to be). Its way more than we need but the lot, loc. and subdivision are pretty near perfect. Some minor damage from the eviction but I'm pricing that in and will order the full blown insp. once we have a deal. I was at the auction, I know the number ... they might get it but I'm thinkin not. There is a lot of inventory out there.

Boys are doin like you said Stacy. Wearing me out!! I must be doing something to them too, Drew fell asleep on the supper table! Hunter caught a few winks mid afternoon til his brother just couldn't stand it any longer and jumped on the bed to wake him up! Course I am sure it has nothing to do with both being up before 7 am! All perimeter cabinets are simply white. My island will be stained oak. With the black top. However there will be an island table that is attached next to it that will have the white quartzite. I have pieces saved at the stone yard that are what I used in the kitchen so do not want to deviate. I originally wanted soapstone but not to be found here in my price range and when I found the quartzite, I could see my kitchen needed to be light countertops but I wanted the bulletproofness of the granite. Plus they didn't have enough quartzite for the whole kitchen. So I have a mix. Its all good. I would post photos but the computer isn't cooperating. Can you use the island top you are replacing for the wet bar? Or are you repurposing it elsewhere?

Carolyn, sorry for not posting in the exchange forum....last time I was there, I noticed that not very many people look at it and thought I might not be making some good trades due to people not seeing my post over in that forum. I was just hoping to get more attention over here.

For future reference, is it ok to post in the exchange forum, and then post a link to that post over here in the general forum so more people can be directed to it?

Steve, glad you are settled in now and hope your garden turns out well this year. I remember last year thinking how bad it must be to be moving your whole garden and be restricted to only containers...it must be a relief to have a more permanent spot now.

catman, there have been a few folks who have said the same as you as to more folks here than in the exchange, but I don't know how one knows that b'c we're all pretty anonymous here as opposed to many other message sites where if someone is online at the site their name appears at the bottom of the opening page. LOL

I see you joined here in 2008 and by that time I think the tomato exchange, photo gallery and Pest and disease Forums associated with this one were in place. There was a need to do that b'c again, this general tomato forum was being overwhelmed.

Just a bit of history. Shortly before I came here there was no Tomato Forum, they were discussed in the Vegetable Forum, but there were so many tomato threads there that Spike opened this one just for tomatoes.

I can't and wouldn't tell you what to do about double posting here and in the exchange, that's something you have to decide for yourself, I suppose based on some of what I've shared with you in my post above and this one.

Welcome back catman! I told steve that you were hibernating, guess I was right. Try posting in the general seed exchange forum. That one gets a lot of traffic.

Oh yeah I was definitely hibernating, from gardening at least...but a couple weeks ago I went and got some new gear like I said since my shop lights needed fixing up. I've been into school, work, and hunting all winter and I will be turkey hunting this spring along with planting things out in the garden so it's gonna be a good spring I think.

Carolyn, thanks for the input.

Also I will take a look at the general seed exchange forum next time.
