My 3 Yoshino Cherry Trees

DirtDiggingLady

About 2 months ago, I got 3 of these trees and they have been doing very well. Yesterday I was thinking how lucky I was that they had good roots now before we are blasted with this 100 degree heat wave.

When I got home though, the leaves on one of them had turned brown & even brittle going from the inside of the branches to about 2/3ds out the branches. The leaves on the ends still green but wilted. The second tree has all the leaves just hanging like they are wilted. The third tree was not affected.

I have researched a little and have seen that a fast thing like that is probably some kind of fungus. Probably springing from all the rain we've had this week, right?

Is there any way to save these two trees? And any way to prevent this from happening? Should I put something in the soil to kill the fungus? I think it also got 3 of my rhododendrons in the front yard -- only 1 survived of 4.

Please help!

Katie
