some bloomers from around the gardens today

you just gotta love this nice California weather - that's what DH says each time I complain that I don't have enough space in the garden and want to move to Texas ... right now I got to agree with him - it's gorgeous outside, had some rain last night, but the sun is out and it's a beautiful day ... and the roses are still pumping out the blooms - specially Charlotte, Christopher Marlow & Sundance - all blooming like it's spring!

Gorgeous! All of them. One of my favorite roses is Christopher Marlowe. Tatooed Lady has an interesting name and look to it. Thanks for sharing!

That verbena is supposed to be new this year. I have seen it everywhere around here. So far it is blooming like crazy. Hasn't been too hot here yet though. That trandescantia is "Red Cloud". I have a shorter, more well behaved one too. Little bit shorter and more daylily-like with blue flowers. It doesn't flop as much as "Red Cloud" spiderwort.

Thanks everyone. I find it's easier to appreciate the late daylilies when there is so little competition. I like them all. Marg and Jean,I think Alexis Sunny Pants just might be my favorite plant in the garden this year. It is such a fabulous performer. Eggplant Electricity has been a favorite for a few years. Mantis--Spacecoast Dragon Prince was new last August, but so far has been very impressive. I've always liked Elegant Finale--a very nice late bloomer. Purple Archittecture is fairly new and is putting on a show. Great branching on this one. Val

Well, here I'm trying to remember which roses were the most striking to me, and there were too many to remember. Lovely bunch of roses.

I think Invitation looks really unique - do you have a full picture of an opened bloom?

I also really like Christopher Marlowe (yummy), Snowfire and Charlotte.

Thanks Caffiopeia - Snowfire is a Kordes rose, really beautiful. I love roses with reverse colours.

Thanks Jen - Chris Marlow is a wonder, I just love how each flower is so different and the colour is never the same ... Tattooed Lady is a new mini I got from Uncommon this year - almost lost it in the Summer but it came back much to my relief.

Carol, Thank you - went out and took more pictures of Invitation for you - it was so windy yesterday while I was trying to take pictures that I could not get too many good ones. Charlotte is just a bloom machine for me, she always has a few blooms on her and I'm really enjoying Snowfire - it's new this year.

Bernice Thank you - I got your message and will reply soon - if the baby does not distract me ... she's quietly watching TV right now :o)

Aprille, I know what you mean. I have no room anymore either and fantasize about moving somewhere that land is cheap. Not where I live, that is for sure.

All your shots and roses are just beautiful, I really like Lady of the Mist. Invitation is very lovely also though and Charlotte is a really nice shade. You must be catching all the rain, it's not reaching down as far as I am, good thing I still haven't got all my gutters up on the house yet:) Lesli

Invitation is such a unique looking rose! The bud looks spiky and so does the full bloom - like a male bird trying to impress a hen.

Thank you all for your kind comments. It's always such a joy to share pictures with fellow rose lovers - definetly makes up for any funny feeling I might have when out front taking pictures of the roses hoping none of the neighbours are watching - though by now they are used to seeing me creep and crawl among the bushes to get to some rose for a good shot!! lol - they know I'm a crazy person.
