Great shots! What a great present. I take my pics on a Olympic also. The close up shots are never as sharp and clear as I want them. Maybe for x-mas a new camera for me....

Beautiful pics Kathy! But then, no matter what the camera, it has a lot to do with the photographer too! You just know how the take really great pics!! My favorite is the one of SILVER STAR. That's stunning!!

That Silver Star caught my eye too...How is it compared with Heirloom? Great pics...doesn't hurt to have a good camera but you frame the picture.

I must confess that I do use editing software. I crop the photos and sharpen a bit. This new camera seems to get the colors better, like Joe says, and I don't have to adjust brightness at all.
It is a Powershot SX100IS. I felt sad leaving Olympus but wanted to try another brand. I do think there are alot of good brands, not just one.

Carla, almost no BS here. But plenty of rust and powdery mildew, but I don't want to trade.
Carol, I have a feeling Sharif would like your climate better than mine. It was nothing like this all summer. Very few petals, short life, I was considering sp'ing it. Now, it is so lanky and wild but those blooms are sweet.

Hi Kathy, Sue here from Nor-Cal Daylily! My Mom has been raving about your pictures and since I just started back into roses and have gotten way too many in the past 2 months, I thought I'd come take a peek here. Great shots and great camera! I too got a new one as a surprise gift from my hubby, a belated Anniversary gift. It's a SLR Canon XTi. Still need to work on getting out of the automode.
Now where are you hosting your images so you can post them here? That's what held me back from continuing to post here, it was hard to find a place to upload them to. I have uploaded all my rose images on HMF (by the way, I want to mention here that Beth's are always one of the best images on there, always the most accurate in coloring, I have admired them since I started looking there and am pleased to find her here as well. Hi Beth in No. Calif ""waving>>!)

Anyways, like I mentioned, I have added hundreds of images on HMF because I have been going to the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden and Regan's Nursery (great sales!) several times throughout the summer and the beauty of the roses has sucked me back in. So now I am trying to balance the roses and daylilies and the myriads of other plants I collect on this small lot, it's a sickness I tell you. Sound familiar? Real estate envy for any of you on bigger properties!

Ah ha, I found where you are hosting your images, I was sneaky & just peaked at the properties. Guess I need to get a Home Page somewhere with that nice listing style format. Anyone have any ideas?

I need to clean out my web page of all the old photos. I think Jeff has everyone on there I ever took--ugh. It is on a computer in the garage! Periodically, someone from outer mongolia or thereabouts tries to break in and shuts it down for a day or so.
Glad to see you here. I really don't know what HMF is--am I having a senior moment? Yes, I love Beth's photos, too--and all her many roses.
I would be in trouble if I lived near Reagan's. They are so nice and accomodating. Hope to see some of your roses here when you figure out where to keep them.

Happy Birthday. I got a new camera for my birthday too - another Sony, this time a W55. It's fun to have this little camera with me at all times. You just never know when a picture needs to be taken. Your roses are beautiful!

Oh sorry Kathy, I figured all you rosarians here would recognize and use HMF, Help Me Find rose search (and other plants) as much as I do. It's a great site for finding roses and their info with images submitted by others. A dangerous place! I will see if linking to my pictures there will work. I am Calif. Sue there as well as at DG, which I hope you know where that is since that wasn't allowed here in the past (although Spike is gone now so maybe Dave's Garden is now OK. Great Rose Forum there too. So little time to peruse everything. :-)
